i see allot of ppl doing s14 lug swaps on thier S13s... what are the advantages of this? do they use the S14 brakes too? and what do you need to do this? and how much labor is involved?

thanks

Pick up the new issue of Sport compact car, it's all in there with pics. The only advantage would be A. 3 holes that don't need to be drilled in 300zx rotors B. a slightly larger selection of wheels that are availible. The parts costs are 3-500 depending on source. Yes you can use the s14 5 lug rotors with the stock s13 calipers. You sould be able to do it in an afternoon in your drive way. How much would I pay for labor? I wouldn't, and never have. That is probably why all my shit is always broke.

The other advantage is being able to use 300ZX REAR rotors and calipers, which require their own special 5-lug hubs.  Combined with a 300ZX master cylinder it makes for a more complete upgrade.  But it's really only a minor advantage for the perfectionist.

The extra selection of larger/wider wheels is real nice, though.

well, I did the swap. Of course now my car is dead and I am pulling the swap off for the next one.
Ask youself these questions. Do I feel there is not a good selection of wheels I like? If you say yes then there is reason number one for doing the swap. contrary to what someone said earlier there are a lot more wheels availible for the car in 5 lug.
next question.
question two:
Do I plan on going with z32 brakes upfront, and if so do I find redrilling rotors a pain in the ass? If you say I do, there is reason number two.
question three:If I stay 4 lug but go with the Z32 brakes do I mind paying heavy throttle top dollar for properly drilled rotors to make it easier? if you say you do then as an adjunct to the previous question you have another reason.
question four: Do I want to put the z32 brakes on in the rear? If you say yes to that then you do need to do the 5 lug swap with z32 hubs or take the backing plate off the S14 5 lug hubs either one will work.
and the final question: I am prepared for anywhere from 6-10 hours of labor to do the swap myself? if you say yes then your gonna do the swap dude.
hahahahaha

ah but seriously this swap is not for the faint of heart its a lot of parts and a lot of work .
I strongly recommend power tools to speed things up &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>
Its your call , I gave you all the questions you should ask yourself and if you respond with the answers I outlined then ou will be making the right choice for you.
I had a lot of people tell me I did not need to do the swap when I did mine. I asked myself all those questions and those where my answers.
I did the swap. I will put it on my next car. Thats me.
