I was driving and the clutch just sank down and stayed there! I dont know what it is. I did some looking and i found something that probably is the problem.

There is a metal braket piece that connects to the clutch line (with thread at the end) and the pedal. So when the pedal is pressed, it pushes the line. WELL THIS THING IS IN 3 PIECES NOW! Everything seems to be intact like the clutch spring and etc. The cluth "POPS" down or "POPS" up with NO RESISTANCE.

Does anyone know what this braket piece is called and how much it cost. I went to oem-car-parts.com but I dont know what Im looking for. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED! ZILVIA HAS GOOD PEOPLE AND I KNOW SOMEONE IS QUALIFIED ENOUGH TO HELP ME.

Im in PANIC right now. Dont know what to do.

Check the FAQs and Archives section of the forum

Sounds like the problem is your Slave Cylinder, about 100-250 to fix depending if they need to replace your master cylinder too or not.

well i had the same problem... you could have just broken the clutch bracket
i did that
part was only like $25-50
but it was special order only thru nissan
we are not looking at your car so we cant tell how bad it is......
it could be the master cylinder but it could be as easy as the bracket
i just broke the welds

WHEW! As Drifterx pointed out, it was just the clutch bracket. Luckily went to the junkyard and they had a S14 with the clutch still intact. I got it for $35. It was a pain to reinstall though cause there is just so much room that one can fit under the kick board.

Thanks for your help guys!

Are you going to upgrade your clutch in the future? If you are I suggest getting the braket reinforced. I know in Japan, thats a common problem among skylines and silvias. If you look at the bracket the piece near the pivot point has only four spot welds in it to hold the part together. Just take and increase the number of spots or just weld the entire area so theres no chance of it breaking off. I wish I had a better way to explain it. I remember when mine broke and I couldn't use the clutch when I drove. It wasn't broken all the way but I could barely push in the clutch enough to shift into first and then after that I had to just shift without using the clutch and by just matching the rpm to the next gear.

junia, i know what you are saying. Sounds like a smart idea so you dont have to go through the pain of installing another again. I dont know anyone who weldes though.

Problem:
I installed the new clutch bracket and drove it around. After about 60 miles, the clutch is acting funny again. It does not pop all the way back up. It stops 3/4 of the way up! IS THERE A CERTAIN WAY THE BRACKET GOES IN. The bracket has a bend side and a flat side to it. Which one goes on the right and which side goes on the left?

Also, I think there is certain amount of CLUTCH PLAY that it has. How rotations am I supposed to screw the bracket back on???
