well, i'm planning to build myself a turbo setup for my KA24DE...
here's what i'm thinking.
Garrett T3, junkyard salvage
fender-mount intercooler (for now)
ECU reprogramming
piping, modified exhaust manifold?

what else do i need? what am i missing? i know something's missing.

i'm not going to have the money to do all this for a couple months or so... first i'm going to get '91 cams and a new intake, possibly an alarm.

Have you tried the search? I just recall a couple posts like this recently. I hardly remember turbo stuff, because, I'm poor.

Umm... you seem to be on a budget for a KA-T, since you're going with junkyard parts and fendermount IC. So a ecu reprogram is probably out of the question, because it is $600. And $100 for each sucessive reprogram. So you'd want them to do everything they could at once, so you'd want a fuel pump to supply fuel to LARGER INJECTORS. That's the only reason you'd want a reprogram. Injectors. And that will run another $500 or so. And $150 for the pump to feed them. So that is $1250 for one part on your list.
But there's more.
Modified exhaust manifold won't work, because it is cast iron, and a PITA to work with. I have never heard of a good stock header turn into a good turbo manifold.
Then you'd need a BOV-$200, turbo timer-$100, Gauges-$200, manifold-$500, ect.
AceInHole tried to do it for under $1000, so ask him how he came out, and I tried for under $2000 with new stuff, but it came out to $2700+. Just be prepared.

i am planning the cheapest turbo kit ever. in the beginning i will only run 4 psi, non-intercooled. so all i need is the turbo (junkyard), manifold, custom intake pipe, downpipe, a pipe going to the intake mani, sleek240 can make a BOV for $20, manual boost controller, turbo timer, and gauges. i will direct the pipe as if there were a frontmount i/c, so when i do get one i won't need new piping. i have access to a welder, and hopefully my uncle will help me build a turbo manifold. i think i can stay under $1200. i will slowly buy the parts to upgrade from there.
