i was jus twondering if anyone has used the KVR crossdrilled rotors that PDM sells, because i was thinking of updating my brakes and cat afford the Z conversion. i was thinking of getting new front rotors along with a set of portiefied(sp?) pads, because i plan on doing a HPDE day at sears point (or inferion or whatever the hell its claled now), so basically, would this be a substational enough up grade for the money?, and would it do its job on the track? if not, please feel free to offer any other/better routes to take, thanks

edit: i forgot to put in the price, they are $70 each for my non-abs S13...

I doubt that they're a "bad" rotor, but why not go with the Brembo x-drilled and slotted deal that irotors has for Zilvia.net members? 225 (or something like that) for a set of 4 rotors seems like a good price to me!

I got cross-drilled/slotted rotors from irotors.com and they are rusting on the edges. If you decide to get them, before you install them, spray some high temp paint on the rotor edges and where the hub section is. They are good rotors, no cracking or warped defect, just break in the pads with rotors properly and all will be well.

On a side note, KVR products seem to be of good quality. I'm running KVR Carbon Kevlar brake pads and they perform great.

I installed my KVR pads and rotors last week. I ordered all 4, but the rear rotors I received are 5-lug, so I'm using the stock ones for now. I notice that the hole pattern is non-directional, which i doubt is as effective is the directional pattern most rotors use, but the difference is probably minimal. After breaking them in, the feel around town so far seems just like stock. Bleeding the brakes made a huge difference though, the fluid was black and nasty, and the pedal is much harder now. I haven't autocrossed on them yet, so I can't comment on how they hold up, but i suspect they will do fine. If I'd heard about the Brembo deal would have got those instead, but I don't regret them a bit otherwise.

RE: rust on rotors... I really don't see why this is such a big issue, as they will rust if you leave the car for more than one day w/out using the brakes in any sort of humidity... Granted, a rotor with zinc plating will only rust where the pad and rotor meet, but other than not looking good, I don't understand why everyone's so worried about the rust.
I mean, it's not like the rust will eat through your rotor and will cause breakage... will it??
