I have a question about installing the 6 speed tranny on the s13 sr20det. I've done a little research on come up with conflicting faqs. Here we have Cookie who installed the 6 speed on the s14a. http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=91976&highlight=350z+exhaust

Then from this website people are also saying it is possible, but not to sure how credible this site is http://forums.freshalloy.com/showthread.php?t=136924

But then you have heavy throttle who says "Additions: 6 speed manual transmission. The 6 speed cannot be used on the S13 and S14 motors, and uses a different driveshaft. Speed sensor is located in the differential." Who are very credible. http://www.srswap.com/faq/faq_s15.asp

I wondering if someone could please clear this up thankyou.

Motor isn't a problem

driveshaft is.

make a driveshaft and get a 3.6 ring.

yea I figured the drive shaft would have to be custom since the tranny is a little longer. So the Motor isn't the problem, so i suppose full throttle is somewhat wrong.

Save money for a nismo/hks 6spd...

Why a 6 speed when it is known to be weaker than the 5 speed? Go with chituntang's suggestion or stick with the 5 speed.

6speed fly wheel, clutch, bolts, pressure plate, custom driveshaft, and using the s15 pumpkin and your set... pretty much the reversal for what people with s15 motor's that want to do the 5 speed swap do.

s15 pumpkin because it already accommodates for you speed sensor issue

Why go thru the hassle with it? Weak tranny, has the same final gear ratio as the 5 speed so its not like your gonna save gas with it. For as much money your gonna throw into your SR, fuck an Os tranny, get a VG30 tranny and call it a day. Itll be the last tranny you'll ever need to run.

I love how you guys are saying the tranny is weak. Its strength is only an issue when you start reaching 300+ hp. I would personly love a 6spd but the hassle isnt worth it atm.

it is weak. it's been proven. and thats why it is so common for s15 guys to swap them for the 5-speed.
for all the custom work necessary to install one, and if you're dead set on a 6-sp, you are better off adapting a Z33 mission.

every body says its weak, but the stock s13 sr20 pushes about 203 hp where as the s15 is 250ps. So I'm sure it'll be fine up to 320 hp or so.
No one really has proven its weak and that the tranny blows at so and so horse power. All you here is I had a friend or heard that it is weak. From what I here 6th gear 80mph on freeway is at 3 rpm's or so, which is great.

the gears are physically smaller which is why people say its weak....

all the ka internals fit in a sr case so if you are looking for lower rpms on the highway the ka fifth gear is 2500rpm at 75mph.

Its weak, the S14 I have has an S15 spec R in it. It went thru 2 6 speed trannies in 3 months. Car is only making 340whp with a Greddy t518z.
