hey guys

i have a 95 s14 and im not quite sure, but i think it has a rev limiter. But today,i went over to my friend house and his zenki doesnt have a rev limiter.it starts to taper at 5500 rpm in any gear.his is a base model and mine is an SE.is this something added to the SE models and not base models?is there a way to remove the limiter?thanks!

wat kind of engine do both of you have?

if you want to remove your limiter you would hve to get an ecu flash regardless of what engine you have.

If you are using an Automatic ECU with a 5 speed equipped car, you won't have a Rev Limiter.

Ehh. Automatic and manual ecu's both have rev limiters. It's just that the manual ecu has a speed limiter when you hit like 115 in fourth or fifth gear.

YEA! i have a similar question as well.
im searching right now, which aftermarket rev limiter you can use on a KA, and from what i heard, its apparently really hard to install these on an s14 KA. has any1 done it?

...still searching...

You saying that you get not power after 5500 rpm? The rpm goes past 5500 rpm right? That is due to the design of the engine. The ka lacks high end power.

The rev limiter is at the redline. It is there for safety measures so you don't over rev it and blow it up.

A Jim Wolf tuned ECU will remove the rev limiter and remap your fuel curves to boot for better engine response. And what do you know, I happen to have one for sale! For 95 S14 5spd with stock KA. $200 shipped to your door; let me know if you're interested. See thread for details:

wow my ka has no problem gettin to redline, its a 5 speed and redlines at 6900 of course and one day i missed a gear and it revved to over 8k but dont worry wasnt even there for 1/2 a second cause as soon as it happened i pressed in the clutch, did i just bypass it that day or what?
