ok so in the last couple days i would get this screech everytime i would press the clutch in , i didnt make much about it...

today i was driving and i let off the gas and i just hear this NASTY grind...only when i let off the gas, and i could feel it in my foot..

i changed gears, as soon as i pressed the clutch in , same grind...

is my TOB dead??

if so , can i use a ka24de /ser tob , or are TOB's clutch specific?

need to know asap

Was there silver paint floating in the the transmission fluid. Were you getting the grind when ever you go to put it into gear and take it out? Also dose your throw out bearing spin freely.

<--Bearing should spin freely. If it's going bad it won't revolve as smoothly. Mine was so worn out it was almost tough to turn by hand. I used a Z32 TOB though on my newer 97' tranny, as was the apllicable part number. Good luck man!!

it spins real freely...no silver paint in the transmission fluid...

it only made noise when i pressed in the clutch , or when i let off the gas

Heres a couple of things you can look for that fit your symptoms. At first he thought it was the TOB.. it was "bad" ever since he bought the car.. turns out the shop that did the swap originally in this car bought an auto sr and never removed the A/T race bearing out the crank. This caused Bearing failure which ended up causing the front cover sleeve to snap off and the TOB to seize onto the sleeve and at some point the clutch fork broke to.. it was pretty amazing that car was still semi driveable.

nah its nothing like that , but i did find one of those little steel dowels that keep the steel backing from moving , i found it sitting inside the bellhousing...im gunna pull of the clutch and see if none of the flywheel bolts backed out or nothing

if your flywheel bolts were backing out you would probably have more problems than a grinding noise when you clutch in, usually your entire power train system will have a wobble which stresses every bearing imaginable. TOB's ARE clutch specific to a certain degree. If the pressure plate was modified and has longer "fingers" then the TOB needs to be shortened to compensate. So thinkgs to look for are the dimensions of the TOB, as well as the style that it is attached to your clutch fork. :)

ok well i bought the same exact T/O bearing , took my clutch off, and almost 4 of the flywheel bolts were loose , one is halfway on...going to replace all of them tomorrow and hopefully have it running soon...
