After a terrible start to the Xgames this year, the #74 Lancer Evolution VII of Lagemann/Williams, DSG and Cascade Autosport finished in a respectible 4th place.

To summarize the early depressing moments;
We had a major accident that followed the third run over the practice jump for the rally section of the xgames. See below photos from C16:aw:

A very kind Rhys Millen made his shop available to us which really aided in the reconstruction of the car. The cage, engine and transmission were untouched by the roll but both the front and rear of the car were destroyed on the driverside. The front unibody was replaced, intercooler, radiator, oil cooler, IC pipes etc. The rear was very impacted and we borrowed a porta power from a body shop to press it out. A few suspension arms were replaced as well. The ball joint ball literally ripped out of the socket on the rear upper lateral arm!

We got the car rolling very early friday morning after missing the thursday practice for the tarmac section of the home depot center course. We got some good time in on Friday testing different settings and ended up with a very good setup for the tarmac. The car already kicks ass on gravel so we didn't change much in that respect.

On the day of the event we won the first round against Patrick Moro in an Impreza and advanced to the quarter finals with McRae. After the jump the active center diff stopped working and was 100% open mode. We didn;t have time to diagnose it (ABS sensor wire was pulled loose by the tire on the jump impact) so we installed a unit that manually adjusts the lock. It would understeer horrible on the tarmac but we had no choice. They had the cars at the start line with the engines running "ready to go at any second for TV" but ended up being 10 or so minutes. One of the parts on the radiator we replaced (with a new one)was the fan resistor box which sits right on the fan shroud itself. Somehow that stopped working and the fan didn't turn on causing the car to overheat (this car is usually the pinnacle of reliability). The ECU went into limp mode and cut rpm to 3500 and boost to .5 bar. When Ramana had to go there was no power and being first on the jump he knew he wasn't going to make it so he pulled in, devastated by the fact that we came all this way for nothing. We fixed the problem in 5 minutes and had no idea what would happen next. When McRae flipped, we were next in line for the bronze metal (Ramana had the fastest lap of the remaining competitors) so we went against Pastrana and though it was a close race, Ramana lost a good amount of time on the tight tarmac sections and came in fourth overall.
This was the most emotional day of my life!
