Engine light on after intake swap

Well, at the dnyo day yesterday I ran once stock and then borrowed beissen's injen w/extension for my 2nd run. The air temp sensor connector from my car didn't fit his intake, so we just plugged it into the one on my stock air box and just laid it there. The dyno run went fine. then we put the stock intake back on, and when I started the car, all was well...but as i accelerated for the 1st time driving away from the shop, the engine light came on. Everything felt and sounded fine...still does, just the light is on. All the hoses and connectors are connected correctly, I even drove home with the light one...no problems.

I can't figure out how to get rid of the light. I cannot get the ecu to reset <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>

Ironically enough, I'm using the FAQ that I posted (not wrote)here (http://www.zilvia.net/f/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=6;t=10141) on how to do this but I can't make it work.

I got the code (41-air temperature sensor circuit) but I already knew that's what caused the error. I don't know what I need to do to correct this "problem" or get the ecu to reset.

I'm sure you did already, but did you check to make sure that everything was connected correctly?

If so, I have heard of a problem that happens with aftermarket Intakes that causes the check engine light to come on because it messes up something with the MAFS, but unfortunately I can't remember how to correct the problem, I thought it was supposed to be a simple ECU reset as well...

Yeah, i unplugged it, made sure the connectors weren't damaged or dirty and reconnected them. &nbsp;I even checked the temp sensor inside the airbox and it is as clean as can be. &nbsp;I dono *shrugs*

I don't see how it would have shorted or broke in anyway...so I don't think there's any damage. &nbsp;Just a stubborn ECU I guess <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':crazy:'>

You must have tapped your maf too hard upon swapping the intakes out. They cost lots of $$$ to replace. They throw a code as soon as they're even minorly mishandled.

faq is wong - start the car before you turn the screw for 2 sec., then shut it, and turn it on

Ok, big thanks to orion over at FA for giving me the exact steps to do this. &nbsp;Here's (http://plaza.ufl.edu/briand) his site. &nbsp;It give instructions on how to reset, he further clarified below.

1) ecu screw thing starting all the way counterclockwise
2) key in
3) turn to ON but do not start
4) turn screw all the way clockwise
5) wait 2+ seconds
6) turn back all the way counterclockwise - read codes
7) to reset: turn back clockwise, hold 2+ seconds, then trun back all the way counter clockwise.
8) start the car
8) ecu is now reset

Ok sorry about the code dsc but here
1.turn you key to the accesory possion
2.turn to wait 2 secs and then turn back read the code
3.then turn again and then back to stop the code from blinking
4.turn car on wait a few minutes to see if it will cut back on
5cut the car off and recheck the code if 5_5 or 505 comes on that means no codes.I have al the codes let me know what it threw.When i was on the way home i threw a code as well but i knew what it was and i just reset it it was my o2 sensor that damn front o2 sensor is a pain.Also s13grl if i remeber right i could be wrong but if his maf went bad his car would be running like sh** cus it would not be reading air/fuel right and etc...Hey dsc it is BEISSEN hahahahah everyone gets that wrong it means bite me in german.

i did pretty much the same thing. car ran fine but the check engine light was on. When your ecu notices sumthing wrong i guess it stores it and wil keep the light on even if the problem is solved. I went to autozone and had them reset my ecu and the light has been off ever since. hope i helped &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Yeah, I ahve that problem right now. I think that if you unhook the sensor while the engine is running the ECU notices and even after the problem is solved the light stays on for a while. It eventually turn off though. I had the same problem when I unplugged my transmission line pressure sensor thing. It turns off eventually. (1 week or so)

i had the same problem, and I fixed it.
i thot i had to reset the ecu buh i was too lazy to do it, one day i was at my friends house, and left my key on the ON position so that we can listen to music. &nbsp;When I finally left, the check engine light went away. &nbsp;I guess all you gotta do is leave it on the ON position for a while, and it will re-set itself. &nbsp;Make sure that your temp sensor is connected properly though.

Yea, thats what I wanna know. I'm going turbo, but a friend is gonna stay N/A.
