i have a ae86 sr5 hatch just siting in my yard and i have a s14 sr with gt2871r, 550cc and mines tune ecu. i have been thinking about the transplant but would like to know the zilvians prespective. the sr was already in my s14, fealt great for the first two years and that it got slower and slower. swaped the ka back in cause of Cali reff and smog. Thanks ahead of time

On HachiRoku.net there is a complete top to bottom build up of a guy from Denmark who did it himself. It is one of the more amazing build up threads I have ever seen, it is extremely detailed, and he goes far enough to acid dip the chassis and recoat the bottom with rubber on a rotisserie he made in his backyard.

Go check it out. Run on sentences own me.

Oh and remember, that AE86 is going to be 500 lbs lighter than any S chassis car. Just remember that rear ends are impossible to find, and all the AE86 rear ends blow. Plan on making a custom driveshaft and doing a rear end swap (S13, S14, Ford 8.8", Celica Supra etc).

That build is freaking awesome but def. not top to bottom, he hasn't shown anything other than putting the motor and cage in

We are definitely thinking about two different builds then.

How about taking the corolla to the junker and putting that motor in an s13, a real manly man kind of car.

Here is one thread:

I am also having trouble finding the thread I was talking about. I'm not on my computer with all the links. Give me a few to look the site over.

Found it, I was wrong. It wasn't on HachiRoku.net, it was on AEU86.org. Regardless, the link I was thinking of is just a huge thread about restoring his AE86, nothing to do with an SR20 swap. Damn. That being said, on my other computer, I know I have an SR20 documented swap as well as a CA18DE swap, both into the AE86.

Here is the link, anyway. When I get my computer up again I will post the other links.

I could have sworn this guy had done the SR20 swap...

There are a couple that I know of. Nice swap. My buddy Hawk has one and loves the thing. It slides like there is no tomorrow.

Here is the Link to his car on Zeroyon.

I asked him and waiting for a reply, i'll let you know when he gets back to me. He just seam welded the whole car, and it's the most pristine corolla i've ever seen. no rust anywehre, and it's original paint.

He was running 10psi on a gt2871, and it weighed less than 1800lbs, the thing was stupidly fast.

Tranny tunnel had to be cut and re-welded, the engine fit against the firewall but it was VERY close he said. Then things like mounts, driveshaft etc. and you won't want to be using that open diff. :D

Yeah, not only that, but you won't want to be using the SR5 rear end. The GTS rear end blows out on AE111 4AGE 20v power, and it's larger and beefier than the SR5 rear end.

Anything can be done with enough money/time..

As for the rear end, look into a ford 8.8 out of a mustang, celica supra, or maybe even an old yota truck?

I've done the KA swap in my old corolla. Same concept, same amount of work involved.

Oh and the GT-S rear will do fine with stock SR20 with upgraded ring and pinion, LSD. If not, the Celica rear end from 79-81 will fit if you use the 4-links and spring perches from the GTS/SR5 rearend.

you guys are the shit... thank you all for your reply and the links. much Thanks. as for the ae86 + sr20det im staring to build up a plan, my concept is light weight and crazy power to weight ratio (Super car stats) My sr has about 300 solid hp @2500rpm with gt2871r .64ar 550cc and tuned ecu, i can get more out of it but i also want reliablity and its way more that was the ae86 can handle. My main problem is the chassie and the rear end (sollid diff) so im just gona work on that before tackling the power plant. its easier said than done, and im a full time student and tech so if i ever get it done it will be a while. It will be worth it. Thanks

I was at the d1 gp ex in raceway park nj. gittons mustang had some major engine problems so this guy showing a demo 86 with a nearly stock sr agreed to let him use the car in the comp. ( he was selling a swap kit for it) it did amazing! kept right up with 5-600 hp d1 drift monsters! deff do it!
