just saw this surfing around on ebay..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/S13-S14-sr20det-silvia-240sx-under-body-front-panel_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33638QQihZ015QQit emZ250125658101QQrdZ1

how hard would it be to make one of these?

depends on your fab skillz,

you can easily buy sheet metal and start cutting...

I wouldn't use a undertray panel that size on the track without an effective venting configuration that would pull the hot air out and to the back of the car. IE, a full undertray and rear diffuser.

they are def right about the stabilization that is created expecially at high speeds. I have a full undertray on my daily driver and that shit reaches speed very quickly and smoothly. The lack of turbulence makes high speed runs much better.

It is one of those inexpensive mods you can do that most people don't think about. Our 350Z uses an undertray setup, and we have taken a 1st and a 2nd this year in Redline Time Attacks. The last one (2nd place) was last month at ButtonWillow where we placed 2nd behind the JIC S15. And it is quite noticeable at high speeds as well as fast in the corners. :2f2f:

I remember seeing Brian from PG had a pretty nice one. He might give you some ideas on how to make one.

i had a stock undertray once, but it got demolished once i lowered my car, haha

the stock one covers a large area and basically there to prevent water and gunk going into the bay, these sheet metal ones are much closer to the bay, i think it helps, with diffusers everywhere, it'll help channel the wind and fan....

I used aluminum flashing (.025" I think) to make cooling panels/ducting on my S13, and it worked very well - I made one that went from the top of the bumper to the rad support, with a cutout for the hood latch, ones for the left/right side of the intercooler to the inside of the rad support, and one from the bottom of the bumper to the lower rad support. I was having trouble keeping the engine cool during freeway runs, because I have a shitty single 10" fan, but with the ducting I was staying below 180* all the time, it was a nice 16*-18* drop.

Problem was, I was dumb and riveted the flashing to the bumper, so when I needed to take the bumper off, I had to pop all the rivets, and the flashing was so thin that it got messsed up. I'll be making better ones again, but I want to tack on some thin aluminum square tubing to the edges so I can bolt stuff on instead of riveting everything. It's REALLY time consuming work, lots of trial and error, and anything on the bottom side of the car (especially attached to the bottom of the bumper) gets demolished when you drive.

Edit: I have no idea where that ebay thing is supposed to bolt to, because the lower rad support is not the lowest part of the car (if you bolted a flat panel to it, I think you'd hit the sway bar on your way back). I'd ask for pics installed.

I have the carbon fiber one off the old JIC 180 drift car. it pretty much seals up from the front bumper back to the beginning of the wheel wells. basically for a street drift machine thats about as far back as you need. You want to be able to leave some ventillating areas in your engine compartment at the bottom back from the wheels.

You all fail.

Stop sign + metal shears = the best underbody diffuser for free.

Never thought these under panel helps. Might consider those eBay ones....

Kazama makes something similar... (price tag blows)

That Kazama piece is totally different... it's a oil pan protector, serves no purpose aerodynamically.

I'll try and get some pics of the stuff I made ~

just buy a piece of sheet metal and start cutting and test fitting, no dimensions needed.

the cut out is probably for the oil drain.
