HUD dash question

For future reference(maybe), Say I have a gross peanut butter hud dash, and I found a good condition black non hud dash. Can I just take the HUD piece off the tan dash spray it black, cut a hole in the black dash, and bolt the HUD piece on it some how?

yes, there is a little frame under the dash for the hud led.
