Has anyone tried the nismo 5th gear replacement? Takes your 5th gear from a .759 ratio to a .838 ratio.

If it's the same as the CA18DET 5th gear, it would just be easier to pick up one of those trannies and swap bellhousings.

Since you know how to work on trannies and do all the labor yourself, go for it then but it seems like more of a pain in the ass than it's worth.

What tracks do you drive on that you'd like to have a shorter 5th gear? Must be some high speed stuff.

The limited gain backed up with the hassle of removing, breaking down, and reassembling the transmission doesn't make it very worthwhile, but there are people who've done it while the transmission is already out.

the ring gear would be a better buy.


shorter 5th gear makes no sense.

Nah i was just interested to see if anyone used it because I was looking at Nismo parts. I'd much rather lengthen my 5th gear for the highway. I need to rip apart my transmission anyways so I was just curious
