Getting it ready for body shop. Did a complete wire tuck to glove box, wiring harness got f'd up by my wheel..cause a small electrical fire. When I parked it, ALT light was on and other random electrical problems. So, Id have to get another harness or chop this one up.

Today I went down to take pics of the progress, heres where it sits now.
They have fit the new front fenders and primed the vehicle.

Still on the list:
More body work, down low. The rocker panels are rusted.
Windows have to be removed. Replacing with new Rear quarter windows while there out.
Car has to be decked.
New trunk lid to be installed.
Remove the doors to get the jams painted and also doors on both sides..

why do you not paint the hood

am i missing something?

and why not painting the area behind the tails and stuff?

PS. please fill me in on your glovebox fuse box relocation stuff? i did that recently but to get it to fit i just like disassembled the fuse box and it isnt exactly the cleanest thing in the world.

Ill get you details on tuck as i did not get to complete mounting it, but it fit pretty well... turned out better than i had expected.

Actually every thing is getting painted.
The reason for the area behind the taillights not primered or even the hood, is that they do not need to get decked. The area behind the tails doesnt have to be decked but it will be sanded and primed. The car will be primed(entire car this time as once piece) again once they find all the imperfections, they have done a bunch of show cars in town that turned out fairly flawless.

As the car is still getting body work done, I'v been replacing parts with newer ones to restore it to a brand new state.

My engines FMIC has taken a beating over the 5 year period of owning the car, so I replaced it with a new one. Along with other parts getting wear over the last 5 years I see one major part that needed replacing, the brakes... So I got these from Nissan:

Looks good.

I just did the same with my fuse box harness on my S14. Ripped out everything I didn't need, separated into 2 sections and ran the few wires back out to the bay that are actually needed out there, lol.

Not sure if I am going to put it on the passenger side or extend some wires and put it in the trunk.

If your unable to find one stateside you can contact an importer and ask for STR Wakai Engineering and Flash product since they seem to be the only other people to make this part.

Here is the STR Wakai Engineering (shown on S14 but avaliable for both S13 and hatch model)

Clean

I think you need lower sides and rear skirts tho (I'm sure you address this in the thread but eh 4 pages and Zilvia is running slow so...)

More specifically I think you need more aggressive aero to match the white TE's

Need pics in the sun to really see tho, the overcast is making it hard to see the lines of the car

Also I think you should take the stickers off the cage....cage color is nice, but stickers kinda just make it messy

Pick and choose with the bars too, either just cage + strut bar, or strut bar + pillar bar....but all 3 is just like overkill

And tsk tsk on the rock e brake ;)

Im ganna be honest, I liked it better red. But either way still a badass car.

Agreed. Just some constructive criticism... with those wheels (sizing, style, etc) and the spoiler I personally would have gone with a little more aggressive sides at least and perhaps more aggressive kit overall. But thats just my personal opinion. Just seems like it went a step backwards from the original look. That and the overkill in bracing. The cage itself is typically enough then to add a STB, C-pillar bar and a trunk brace, that just seems like you're adding more weight, hurting performance versus improving. Ill let Russ chime in on this since hes been there, did the same and took most of his out on the blue car.\

Like Logan mentioned... e-brake too. Function > form, if its just a cable issue thats easily solved and I hope you do so. Otherwise Z32 e-brake assy isnt hard to source on here, Im sure plenty of people on here would be willing to help out.

Just being critical since you obviously put a lot of time, money and effort in the car. Otherwise not too shabby.

Haha, found those pictures on the website in his sig, sorry everyone.

If you got the pics, show em

This is like having naked pics of your ex girlfriend

But not showing them to people

Ill let Russ chime in on this since hes been there, did the same and took most of his out on the blue car.

I think it looks rad.

I also disagree on the aero. I think if more agressive aero was added it would just end up looking like every other fastback with white TE's that we've seen recently (just in a different color).

Love the car. I'm not a fan of 18s all around though. But, hell it's yours. Everyone can keep giving you suggestions on what to do to make it look better, but there's a reason why your car looks like this, cause you, yourself, thought it looked hot. I'd give you plenty of suggestions too, but I'm keeping those ideas for me, so I can make my car the way I want it. Awesome car man.

This is quiet possibly the gayest mod ever. I removed my old bushing, it was mint. Very hard, no signs of cracking or wear.
It was fairly easy to get out, having the motor in or out would make no differnce, as you can just get to the knuckle from under the wheel well easily.
This was a fucking bitch to get back in. This is where I regret ever buying this part, its super hard to do this solo, you need some one to hold the steering assembly and line up the 3 bolts on the fire wall, while one guides the knuckle to the spline.

In the end, im left with about a 100 cuts on my hand and a wasted of 4 - 5 hours. A part that virtually did nothing, after a test drive.

Yes thats my new sparco all dirty.

Edit: 2008 October. Gonna have to take most of that back. :D

kuruptR
07-07-2008, 04:40 PM
I actually had some problems running the Synapse BOV open to atmosphere. Upon installation I had some major idling issues, it was leaking pretty badly on the hardest pre-load setting. There is no room for adjusting to close it shut, I took it a part to see what I could do to modify it. I ended up putting a spacer on the spring seat so I could get it to close up, it works now NO LEAKS.

Pros & Cons:
Is it as responsive as a HKS SSQV? unfortunatly NOT.

Limited noise, a good thing! It opens and closes pretty fast.

Too keep the BOV sealed at idle, I had to put a bunch of pre-load on the spring. So it needs about 5lbs of boost to blow off.

Unit it self is pretty large for what it does, my Greddy RS would have been fine. But the synapse looks so good :D

2 Vacuum ports? uhh why?! I did a bunch of differnt varations with the vacuum hosing, doesnt seem like it does much hooking both up. I tested a few combos.

Blitz nur spec, Iv had this GP sports one on order for months... took them 4 months to tell me its discont. Now Im stuck with APEX, its the only one I could find in stock.

That sucks man, I was looking into the gp sports ones, but they are "custom" order apparently which means waiting like 5 months (if you can still get em that is...).

That apexi piece is very nice though :)

What are you doing with the nurspec?

So glad you're updating this again, man. Like I told you a while back in PMs, when I was stalling in my project your car/build kept me motivated. I love the quality of parts. Amazing job.

I hav'nt put them on yet im waiting to buy tires. what sizes did u buy for the 57's? are the the same 225 35 and 235 35 like on your te's? I cant find any decently prices 235 35's so i am THINKING about a 225 35 F and 225 40 R

I will prob buy tires some time next week then make a conscious effort to put them on my car

That roll/pull in the rear looks wayy more than what you had when u had the te's on there, I could almost remember just a roll... why did you do that for more tire or just the tucked look

btw, wanna take another set of these 57's??? ill trade u for the te's haha and some cash??

Not much camber in the rear, the reason why the 9.5 + 12 is so flush with pulled fender.

Got the ganadors thrown in to an engine shipment from japan, brought a couple sets back... There motorized too.

What's your tire size in the rear, because it looks like you could run a 3mm spacer or something back there. But it may just be the angle of that driveway.

kuruptR
07-16-2008, 03:19 PM
its credit card distance now, if I was to close the gap (letters already rubbed off) it would not be functional on track days.

These were my 10.5's (same camber), constant rubbing, very dangerous on the track when the wires start to show through.

So many things going on in this shot.

1.Put that new fender on, its getting a light news paper roll.
2.Slight glimpse at my one off RED project Mu's. Ill have close ups later.
3.Engine bay shot, with bunch of new aluminum goods (you can see the synapse) and Black Bay.
4.Guys from work came down to help me out. Mounting of bumper. (these things are a bitch to mount if your not using tie straps)
5.New Wheels Mounted with fresh Toyo T1R's.

just by the pics, the front tires looks thinner than the rears and with that strech on 9.5, its probably 225/35/18 front and 225/40/18 rear

You can make em fit, but there is no set measurement.

And yes, this is the red car, and yes, the rear sidemarkers are horrible, damn us DOT.
