Yellow Headlight Lenses on s14

My headlights have yellow discoloration, how do I remove the lense without taking out the whole light and putting it in the oven? And after I cleaned them how do they go back on? Is silicon used?

Wet sanding or an extra fine grit rubbing compound will get that off.

I've told you once, I've told you a thousand times. Try using toothpaste. I'm serious, I've heard it works really well on removing the yellow.

just use some monkey urine and a dry sea-sponge...It'll take the yellow right out.

I dont think the lens is meant to come off...however, after looking over it, it seems possible. &nbsp;Just pop the black clips off, and wedge something flat in between the lamp asbly and the lens. &nbsp;(I wouldn't use too much back/forward action force. &nbsp;The plastic lip looks like it would crack pretty easily.) &nbsp;Maybe just tap a screwdriver straight down in between it. &nbsp;

Hope that helps a bit...its the best way I can figure to separate the lens. &nbsp;

If not, I can tell you that taking the entire assembly out, and pouring oxyclean and boiling water INSIDE it will greatly decrease the yellowing. &nbsp;Just let it sit for about an hour...then rinse out.

odds are, if you have an s14, the yellowing is on the outside. &nbsp;the best way to get it off is to use fingernail polish remover (with acetone) then seal it with a good polish, or you can wet sand it like guidot said, but that's probably unnecessary &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'>

1) how does it yellow on the INSIDE? it's not exposed to any contaminants like the outside is.
2) if you were to wetsand it, use 2000 grit sandpaper, not 1000.
3) wetsanding is not neccessary. as said before, buff it with a mild/heavy grit compound.
4) if you don't have a buffer, use meguire's/mcguire's (how the fuck do they spell that anyway?) plastic polish and cleaner.
5) if you don't believe me, piss off.

As someone who asked for the same info on an earlier post...the yellow is on the outside...if you pop the lense off you will still have yellow on the outside and water on the inside...

and I have now seen this on a TV car show...

polish with metal polish...yep...metal polish...like Mothers or Meguiars....
then come back and finish with a nice plastic polish...

I do believe if you try 1000 grit wet paper you will be buying new lens....

i was cleaning my car up at the shop a few days ago and took some du pont 3812 to mine and it cleaned them up pretty good then i took the metal polish to it and now they are clear. &nbsp;So maybe swing my a paint shop and pick up a small thing of 3812... that stuff also works on taking off any nasty stick crap and its safe for most everything

no, not unless its super duty.. but even it wont hurt your paint i just would rub it. &nbsp;But it might not hurt to buff your whole car if your going to do the headlights

no they will not hurt the car and DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BUFF WITH COMPOUNDS IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING (or at least without an explanation on how to do so from me)
