I was driving home today with my buddy following me in his EG civic. We got on it a little bit and as i was slowing down my friend said he saw some type of flame, but it looked more like a little sparkler firework. I thought it might just be fuel and oil burning up through the exhaust. He said since it kinda looked like a sparkler, it might be metal. But if it was metal (perhaps a fried ring or something) the car would not be running right, and it hasn't changed in any performance aspect. Some specs...

I just installed the cam last week and have never shot flames before, so will all you flamers out there lend a hand :ghey:

it might be just extra fuel

Compression test your engine and look for a weak cylinder. Is your car lowered? Might have scraped the exhaust or something.

yeah, car is lowered, but i don't think it was dragging.

i always see turbo cars that shoot flames, but its like a full fireball. perhaps since they have a turbo spooling and pushing out the burnt fuel it comes out faster. since mine is N/A the fuel is coming out slower, so its "drizzling" out. Has anyone seen flames out an N/A car?

I have the same setup as you except for the cam/header and all kinds of crap comes out of my exhaust...

And it even shot a little fireball when I took it to the track this weekend...
It is at 1:22 and on the original video you can see it perfect... On the youtube one you can only hear it...

Here is a video of my friend chasing me and you can see everything shooting out of the back...

I also dyno'd my car last week and this is what the graph looked like:

The reason why you are having fireworks out of your tailpipe like mine is because of the tune being off... Old sensors and bad connections send a bad signal to the ECU so the ECU will compensate in the wrong way causing the map to be richer...

One thing I am suspecting with my motor is that the coolant temp sensor is bad (which sends a signal to the ECU) which is messing with the timing and hence causing the jerky graph and about 8% less horsepower than I should be making...

Here is an article by Alex Chang a long time ago who had a similar problem with a choppy graph... Maybe this might help you understand a little better...

yeah, i remember seeing your dyno and scratching my head. If you fix that let me know if it cures your loss of power.

On a side note, i just drove my car with no silencer and its soo much nicer. The cam really helped out a lot. no more dead top end for my KA
