Redline Time Attack! April 28,29 ButtonWillow

Another time attack is coming up in a few weeks. The weather should be nice, and there will be some good competition. I finally got the Kognition S14 motor put back together, so i will be running again in RWD Unlimited. And i'm 100 lbs lighter than last time, sooooooooooooo if you see me in your rearview get the hell out of the way, because i am trying to hit the 2 minute mark on a stock internal SR out there. :2f2f:

Okay we are only a week away from this event. If anyone is driving from S.D. and wants to caravan with us, we are leaving around 3am on the 28th (Sat).
I think drivers meeting is around 7:30 or 8:00 AM.
I have been so busy with production for other clients, i have had little time to work on my own car. I just need to get it sprayed now. I wasn't able to get my carbon roof project done in time, so that has to wait for the moment. :mad:

I feel ya on that one ,Im in the same boat, I sent you a PM. I beleive you should be able to hit the 2min mark. You have run BW yea.. The time is in "riverside" and the section leading to it wich will set you up for a good run over "magic mountain" down to the hard brake zone at "star mazda". IMO the middle & back side (veiwed from pit wall) is where its at, thats all the high speed stuff,so if you can get the car working well through there you should be in good shape:bigok:

Man i wish i had my new roof done in time. Oh well, thats how it goes when you work for a living. Your car doesn't get worked on till days end when your dead tired. :-/

Hmm then I most definitely will be seeing ya cuz my friends need to talk to Robi about suspension. My friend Matt is running his custom coilover setup on his Miata and he's supposed to make a set for my friend's supra. I can't wait till this event! I had a blast at the last time attacks.

I was just told that the Kognition sponsored 350Z placed 2nd in unlimited RWD.

I know he beat the Super Street Time attack best set by GMG Motorsports porsche but I don't know about track record. I THINK Tarzan still holds it with the Sun Auto Evo or something. I forget.

The Welds car unfortunately could not clock a good time. They had to call it quits because the tranny was not shifting very well when it got hot. There were lots of air bubbles in the tranny fluid too. I think Eto said the tranny was dead. It has potential to be very fast and the work that was put into it was just amazing!

Oh yea got to give it up to Factor X's turbo NSX, 1st in modified rwd. That kid Billy can drive! 20yrs old and youngest instructor at Laguna Seca.

I also got a chance to meet Kuah@SPL, who's car came in 2nd in modified rwd. That car looked damn fast out there. I hope they keep coming back out. It was very fun to see SPL 300zx vs the Factor X NSX. (It was a pleasure meeting ya Kuah, I wanted to talk to you more about suspension for my 240sx but the carbon body Miata i was pitting for was taking up all my time!).

Our driver said it was about 90 to 95 degrees out there this weekend! They think that they lost 150 to 200 HP from heat soak alone. I think the Z was tuned for 500 HP this weekend. We are learning alot from these events about how everything ties in with engine, chassis, suspension.
Its all out of state Time Attack's now until Nov with Laguna Seca. Yes Billy is one fast kid, and he's got that pretty boy smile for the ladies :bigok:

However everyone who ran today did a lot better as the wind started blowing on in and there were actually some clouds. Saturday was the WORST.

I hope to make it to Laguna Seca and hopefully my friend's supra can make it. See you there?

Also, impressive honors goes to Nils with the White Evo with orange wheels in the street tire class. he did 1:58 something. Damn awesome

I was out there with Evasive Motorsports and it was a great time minus the heat...

I left right before the awards but Evasive's EVO9 ran 1:55 and it's only modifications are HKS turbo setup (stock block), Tein SRCs, bolt in cage, and wheels/tires ofcourse.. The car still has A/C also... It won the Modified AWD class...

The Evasive S2000 ran 1:58 and only had a coilovers, LSD, and an intake... I am waiting to hear what it won... He ran in Modified RWD...

One of our buddies, Tim, won the Street RWD with his S2000 with only suspension and wheels/tires... He ran a 2:02...

Hankook S15 ran 1:50 and won fastest overall...
SPL Z32 ran 1:55 IIRC...

There were three S13s and 2 S14s out there that ran in the street class but I never had a chance to talk to them... I should have...

That dry carbon Miata was pretty awesome... A bunch of dry carbon panels and a turbo motor... I heard about 300WHP and about 2000 lbs... That has got to be fun...

I briefly spoke with Rob from Evasive I think. Great guy to talk to, great driver. The whole Evasive cars did well, hope to see them come out more often and talk to them more. I wish I had more time to talk to everyone but I was too busy wrenching on my friend's carbon miata. Next time we will be faster with more boost and working shocks! We were riding on a one blown shock for the rest of the event

he placed 6th at California Speedway back in feb on the weekend of 10-11th... only 4/100ths behind m-workz that had tarzan driving.

its funny how in that tuner shoot out, ams got first place overall, even tho they placed second to the s15 in the time attack.

s15 posts a 12.9 in the quarter... would have thought it was quicker than that.

Are you referring to Brady Dohrmann with the Full Race S14? We saw him at California Speedway but I don't think he actually ran the actual time attack...

We were actually 6th (or 7th depending on whether you count the Crawford Sti twice) at California Speedway, followed by M-WorkZ 350Z who was 2/100th slower, then the Tuning Technologies Evo who was 5/100th slower... it was pretty tight luckily all these cars were in different classes :) In our defence, we did not get to run the 2nd time attack session because the shifter linkage broke, and we were pretty sure we would have been faster in the 2nd session...

yeah he did the same exact thing this weekend... ran a couple times on saturday and then sat out sunday... i wanted to see some time slips myself since dyno comp brought out the blue subie again.

gonna pm him and see whats up.
