Hey I'm looking into converting my 240 into a silvia. Where can I find the silvia body kits? It's a 95 so I'm looking for the S14 kit.

Please spend some time lurking before jumping in with stupid questions.

iirc, the front grill is the only "body kit" type item that differs between the 1995 Silvia and the 240sx.

Actually, now that I think about it, I think the gas door is on the driver's side of the car on the Silvia.

How about not being a dick when I ask a question? Obviously I dont know that much about the car so all I was asking for was an answer or a correction. Which you gave me, so thank you.

He's just sayin that because that question gets asked ALOT. There are lots of places that sell the kit. Use the search and look for "s15 conversions" and go through the posts that are from this year or newer.....lots of posts to read through

Good luck

...and if every nube who came to this board asked every stupid question they could think of without taking some time on their own to read and study there would be no one on here willing to answer the more difficult questions. This isn't just about you.

Also, a little advice: when you do something that is pointed out as being stupid, suck it up. Getting defensive about your mistake and disrespecting the people that can help you isn't going to help you learn.

admittedly I am a nube, but when you are rude in answering a simple question you automatically lose any respect you would have recieved. You could have just said look at other posts such as the response I recieved from turbo bunny.

Also, a little advice: About getting "respect", try being a little bit courteous. You'll get alot more "respect" that way.

Respect is earned, never given, and you have to give it to get it.

while I admit hippo was a lil out of line, to his credit he used to be a really nice guy

it's just that since tfatf came out, this forum has been overrun with newbies (which is not bad in itself), the majority of which arrive with an entirely ricer perspective (there's the bad part).

All of us who've been around a while serious at times would see the EXACT same question, sometimes several times a day.

I've always been one to get the low-down and recon something before I jump in, that goes for anything... from walking into a new bar, to buying a car, to thinking about seeing a movie... I check out how things work FIRST, so I don't show my ignorance later. Most people DON'T do this, and after 6+ months of constant bombardment, you get the quick-to-the-guns response like from hippo.

It's not his fault really, there's just too many people blindly jumping out and not looking first... then they get hit my the Hippo-bus

Anyways, I'm not pointing fingers at anyone, this is just how it is. Roll with the punches, cuz things aren't changing any time soon

...he he... need to earn your "respect"...he he... When I go to someone else's home, or ride in their car, or visit their message boards - I show respect. I watch what is appropriate. I try to know a bit about what I'm doing before I do it (be it inappropriate jokes, eating, or stupid questions). I guess I think that b/c I am new, I owe respect to those whose realm I'm entering and must earn respect from them. I guess we just see it backwards.

Yoshi, the peace maker ) is dead on (even if he left out all of you that flood this board everytime SCC, SS, or 2NR runs another article with a "Silvia"). (really like the bus metaphor too)

I could have asked why it's so important your car look like a Silvia instead of a 240sx and then flamed you for being a ricer. I could also change my name to "StepNFetch" and answer your every whim. I thought I gave you something right down the middle. Geeze - even AFTER you called me a

Quote

dick

, I was pretty pleasant (although you can be sure to not get helpful advice from me in the future... should you pose a worthwhile question).

Oh yeah - FWIW, that question actually doesn't come up all the time. The question bunny answered is: "Hey I'm looking into converting my s14 front into an s15 front. Where can I find the s15 body kits? It's a 95 so I'm looking for the S14 kit." But you didn't ask that. Instead, you were being a JDM whore: you asked to turn your car into an s14 Silvia - body kit wise (akin to JDM DC2 front ends on USDM DC2's). However, unlike the DC2 , there is no physical difference b/n the JDM and USDM *except* the front grill (not the whole front end). I could determine that in about 3 minutes of yahoo searches. It's also too bad no one picked up on the gas door on the driver's side That was by far the more clever part of the response.

C'mon For God sakes man. Chill out, you should be worried about "The Other Guys" Not some brother in nissan arms that just trying to ask a Question. Lose the superiority thing. Ive been watching this place and all the posts for a while And all the time everybody is jumping down each others throute over chicken feed. I bet if his dad worked for HKS you would'nt be taken all sorts of sheeyat. We need a better sense of community.
He was a bit vague but don't unleash fire on him. Talkin about respect that kids got a life to. We are all humans here.

My spelling sucks, I know.
And don't go after my screen name, Its just a bunch of letters

Oh we picked up on it, but something like that coming from a fellow 240sx driver was so stupid we decided not to glorify your ego with a response.

Yeah, so it was probably his first post on the board, but since when did we all get so high-and-mighty around here that we can't give a simple non-condescending reply and be mature instead of having to flaunt an attitude.

Oh yeah and isn't there a couple "silvia" conversions for a s14.

I saw one of the 97 98's with a deferant light bulb setup but inside the same housing with no real changes to anything else

It was distinctly more aggresive. i.e. JDM

the 97-98's are more aggressive, but the only things that are different on the JDM version are the bumper and grill.

Changing to that front end is alot cheaper compared to the S-15, plus you get metal fenders. You can get the necessary parts and a body kit for the price of a S-15 conversion (roughly $2500-$3100).

No these lights had totally different look again it was still in the 97 98 frames I'm not confusing 97 98's with those crap ovals on the early s-14.
They were almost like a single projector placed in the middle sorrunded by flat glass or plastic, these were on the inside sides of the lights when lookin at the car from front, then half way across the face it changed to a normal looking 97 98. Like the early style projector conversion headlamp assembly for a honda.
Like I said way cool and aggressive. Plus I have not seen a single civic OR 240 with this around my neck of the woods

I got no idea where these lights are from It was on some kids car on his web site.

Sorry, but I'm kinda confused by your post.....do you have a pic?

Here's a pic of a 97-98 240SX (USDM):
http://a332.g.akamai.net/f/332/936/12h/www.edmunds.com/pictures/245049.jpg

Here's a pic of a 97-98 Silvia (JDM):
http://members.aol.com/GTspecR/images/silvia.jpg

Both cars are stock with glass headlights and you can notice a slight difference in the front end. BTW, I not trying to start any arguements just stating facts.

yeh no beef over here man just tryin to figure this sheeyit out. When I look at the picture i see the light pattern from the inside of the car out as oval proj. circle proj. then Turn sig. This is on the stock. On the others it was Small projector then some oval large proj. maybe even stock and then turn sig. I'm thinking this might be some APC thing or some other company. It did look nice though Kinda like pin prick eyes or somethin. Im gonna try and find this pic.

me - call it policing. The point about it being a waste of resources to answer every question someone may have is valid - as is the part about it being the responsibility of the owner to at least TRY first. Part of a community is following easy rules that keep everyone happy. And FWIW, it really doesn't matter where anyone (or their parents work) - a poorly thought out question is still just that.

Lights:
1) are not a body kit
2) there is a difference b/n Silvia (both JDM and Euro) and 240sx. The Zenki Silvia uses glass housings. The Kouki Silvia has a slightly greater distance b/n the two projectors (hard to see in pics from that angle - but visible head on).
3) other items may be aftermarket - but not "Silvia"

Alriight Alright I get your point. Sorry. thanks for the light info, I was begining to think I was crazy or in a hallucinatory state.

I really can't wait until the rest of this site goes up and we have resources to refer to. I think all of these kind of issues will be elimnated.

I've been on this board for like three days, and I'm already tired of all the arguing. Yadda Yadda Yadda......stupid question, whatever I dont feel like arguing over really stupid shit. Lets all have some tea and crumpets and just watch some cricket or something.

Welcome, the hard way.

Auto - if you ever want to prove you aren't crazy, do a search here or at FA for a group buy on Euro Silvia lights. Someone had a great head to head picture on the lights on the Kouki. I think it was in the "buys" forum here starting sometime last fall.

I like the flip-up lights on the early 240s myself and wouldn't want to change it and I've never understood modifying an import car just to make it look like they do in Japan. Performance mods are another story if it is a step up.
