Structural?

Im just curious if anyone can tell me if this piece is structural? I want to remove it for esthetic reasons only and will leave it in place if you all tell me Im dumb... Thanks alot

I will be installing a 4 point cage and a rear upper strut bar shortly

i think those are ok to removed if you planed on fabricate welding in a rollcage.

It's actually for two purposes, rear seat support, and chassis support. If you're putting in a roll cage, strut bar I don't think removing these will matter.

I would drill the welds and plug weld the holes.....

but seriously, a mixture of blood, sweat, tears, hammers, chisels and grinders.
Maybe even an oxy-acetylene torch.. Im not exactly well equipped but I think I can track down a torch... I removed my battery tray with a pry bar so I think I can manage

I would use a die grinder and dremel for the tight spots. Then the dremel to smooth the edges.

those reinforce the shock towers. if you put in a cage and a triangulated strut bar you should be ok. a regular strut bar won't do much to compensate for removing those.

They don't brace very much, I've cut them out before with no ill effects. STB and cage will easily triple any integrity lost, go for it.

I remove those already... u need to drill the welds off... hamer and chisel will destroy your chasis trust me i try a couple of with that O_o

i have roll cage welded in the chasis and is fine, in fact is pretty rigid now O_o

there are alot of spot welds on that thing. you can get a spot weld remover drill bit from most hardware stores. it will save you lots of time and effort. I took mine both out in like 2hrs.

aesthetic. and a cut off wheel or angle grinder will come in handy, fine tooth sawzall is good to have. you can NEVER buy too many tools.
