Ill keep it simple, my girls 89sohc with minor mods (air intake,exhaust,etc..) has developed a burning oil smell along with small puffs of smoke out of the exhaust at a shift. The thing thats got me is that there is no powerloss or signs of a mechanical problem. The engine has no leaks or oil anywhere on it. Any ideas would be great.

And yes, I searched but all threads with these symptoms show some sort of a powerlose or such.

Valve Stem Seals possibly, is the smoke only under full throttle?

For instance, you get on it hard, then let off and tons of smoke behind you?

Very small puff of smoke and only right after you shift and it dosnt seem to matter how much throttle is given.

blueish = oil
white = water/coolant

Id say decent for a 18 year old car with a topend rebuild. The car in question is my girls car and although she drives hard, shes no dummy with the mechanics of it and she lets me know of even the smallest shake in it. Also, it just passed smog a year ago.

How come we try to keep our girls cars simple but they still have problems?
