Are the s14 5 bolt rear hubs the same as the 300zx NA hubs?
The reason I'm asking is, will be able to use new S14 rear 5 bolt hubs with the 300zx backing plate (for e-brake) and the 300zx calipers?

I hope you guys understand what I'm asking :)

This is exactly what I posted on Fresh Alloy:

Be aware that there are 2 different types of 5 lug rear hubs. There are hubs that have a "tab" on top like this:

And there are hubs without the "tabs" like the s14 se hubs. Be aware that certain ebrake assemblies were designed to go with the hubs with the tab:

The s14 se hubs WILL NOT WORK with these ebrake assembiles! Just a heads up.

Just make sure whatever e-brake assemblies do not require the hubs with the tab and you should be fine.

thanks :)

So basically, S14 SE hubs will not work with Z32 e-brake assemblies..

That's where it gets confusing because some z32 hubs look like s14 hubs (no tab) and others have the tabs. The ebrake assemblies that go with the tabless hubs have a thicker kingpin.

If you get tabless 5 lug hubs and upgrade to z32 rear brakes just be sure to make sure the ebrake assemblies are the ones that go with the tabless hubs.

Are these e-brake assemblies s14 friendly?

heh damn

is there any way of knowing which e-brake assemblies where designed for tabless hubs? i.e. from which 300zx (na or tt) year?

James, those look like they could go with tabless hubs. Unfortunately as of yet there's no way to tell which years the hubs were manufactured with the tabs. It could be a production variance thing.

Guys, it's not that hard. If your hub does not have a tab all you do is affix a nut, spacer, washers, or anything the same thickness of the tab behind the kingpin to bring it further out from the backing plate. I've done that on numerous sets with no problem. This also allows you to completely assemble the ebrake hardware with the hub/bearing removed, then bolt it on last. The only thing to watch for is when you impact down the 24mm nut from behind you need to keep the kingpin from rotating, otherwise it will hit the inner portion of the rotor. Doing this allows for any 5lug hub to be used, regardless of the tab.

And FYI, some Z32 TT hubs come with the tab but but it's double drilled and the dowel pin is removable, whereas most NA hubs it's fixed on one side or the other and cannot be moved to the other side.
