i have done my research on swaps, but i cant seem to find anything on swaping crate motors, just regular swaps. i found this company that will sell me a S15 from the nissan factory with 0 miles on it for really cheap. so im thinking of putting that in my s13. ive already done some research, i know im going to have to get a SR tranny (probably a s13 5spd) and a SR wiring harness. and im going to get a front mount and 3" exhaust, but other than that what else do i need? or am i just better off just doing a normal s13 or s14 SR20 swap though R&D factory or UPFD?

you are going to need alot of stuff, unless they tell you it will include all the sensors

crate motors come several different ways, from short blocks, to complete turnkey. If its turnkey then you wont need anything else. if its just a long block, there is going to be alot of things you will need. Is it worth it? thats upto you.

Like irax said it could be various crate motors. Depends on how much it costs but if you HAVE the budget, id say do it. If getting a crate motor means you arent going to get to fix your car up for the next 2 years because your paying off the motor, id say just get a S13 /S14 motor and rebuild it if you really want a "like new motor". But if you got the scrills, that would be pretty sick to have a 0 mileage S15 motor sittin in the engine bay..

if it is worth it? maybe but if the cost/hassle is going to be alot more than a normal swap its not really. because i can build up a red top for about the same price right? im thinking the s15 will give me about 250hp stock and a s13 mildly tuned would be about 230-250hp on the stock t25.

S15 swap is fairly easy if you use the 5speed.

if i do go with the swap ill let you know.
im leaning towards the s15 because with 0 miles you cant go wrong, and with a red-top i wont know what it has been though. id rather do all the trashing my self. you know what i mean?:naughty:

If you're just getting a long block you'll need a lot more than just a harness, tranny, and exhaust. You're going to need a bunch of sensors, 4 coil packs, injectors, etc. If it's really so cheap do you mind posting what you are paying for it?? Factory coilpacks alone for an S15 are around 500 dollars brand new. You'll also need a 'QT' ecu for an S15 SpecR which are hard to find and would probably run around 200-300 used from Japan. Why wouldn't you just get a low mileage S15 SR20det with all the crap and a tranny? Most S15 engines here or anywhere used have low mileage to begin with.

intake manifold, injectors, might as well go with a standalon (haltech), knock sensor, tps, sensor, harness, intercooler, turbo and wastegate, gasket, waterpump, pulleys, powersteeringpump, alternator, oil pressure sensor, hoses. and you mihgt as well buy the best money can buy if you already bought that $15,000 Sr
