So heres the story. i ran my car about a month ago. when i came back i noticed it was not running right. after pulling the valve cover and the front cover off i noticed that the timing was horribly off. is there any way to tell if my valves are bent without removing my head? running the engine is not an option since the front cover is off.

cliff notes:
with my crank shaft pully indicating TDC, my cams are wayyy off and, im completely lost. oh and the timing chain is off the car. is there anyway to time the car as i sits?

well you can set your crankshaft pulley at TDC and make sure your cam dowls (sp) are at 10 (int) and 12 (exh), with the front lobes facing out towards the fenders. that should be TDC

but how do i do that without taking the chance of smashing valves?

because we cranked it over with the chain on. plus the passenger side cam was the one skipping
