Hi, I just had a question about something I heard from a guy about the 240sx, but the only time I ever heard this was from this guy. He told me that the 240sx has a problem w/ the air flow sensor, which he said new costs about $750, and he said this is an ongoing problem in the car and happens alot. I have read a lot of review on the car, it has pretty much always gotten a 9/10 and I just wanted to know if this was true - because he told me this was one of the reasons that the 240sx didnt do so hot in the US. PLEASE get back to me ASAP.

Thanks. &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/notify.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':notify:'>

thats definately not one of the reason it didnt sell, it didnt sell because of lack of power and lack of a market for a 23-24,000 dollar sports coupe with less power than lesser cars, the only pluses it has are a great chassis and for the prices they can be picked up for now, they're damn good cars, just my .02

you didnt really answer me question.. I wanted to know if this was a major problem in the car that I would have to deal w/, because if so - this car isnt worth paying money for if I have to go and change something that costs 720 every year.

oh yah, i've seen a few ppl have to deal with that problem but typically its in the 91-94's i havent seen it often in the 95+ 240's, i still dont think its a major problem tho

Not a major problem...Mine stopped working for some reason, messed up my performance/gas mileage, bought a used one from a junk yard for $40 and fixed it like a champ!

I haven't heard of that problem, but I know that in S13's the MAF is the most restrictive piece in the intake system, and if mine ever breakes, I'm gonna fabricate a system that will accomodate a mustang cobra MAF. I forgot where I heard about this mod. Hmmm. Anyway, than you wouldn't have to replace the thiong once a year, just once peroid. I wouldn't worry about it though.

I heard when the air flow sensor breaks, your car just sits, it wont start or anything.. I didnt know it just affects your gas mileage etc. even that is a pretty serious problem :| well i still want the s14, because no car can out preform its style or preformance for the price.. btw Used Parts, I heard it was like $250 at even the junkyard, which it is very uncommon to be.. so basically the only choice I heard you have is to go to the nissan dealership and order one for very expensive. Please try to get back to me ASAP. Thank you.

Whoever told you this is 100% wrong, our cars MAFs rarly just quit working... my car still has the original from 10 yrs ago.. and $250 brand new from the dealership sounds more about right, you could probably get a MAF anywhere from free to $40+shipping from someone here.

This guy was probably thinking about some other car.

MAFS don't fail too often and arent that expensive to replace on our cars.

i know a few people how have had problems w/ the the airflow sensor but they were all able to clean it out. There are 1 or 2 reeds in the sensor that get clogged or something.

do you know how much it cost them to fix it by any chance? and if I can get one for $40 from here, its no biggie.

with all the people doing sr20det swaps it should not be hard at all to find the sensor laying around somebodys garage. (like mine) but i had no problems with the mas airflow (ive had two 240's and the guy that bought my old one has had no problem either. reman mas air flo is not 750? like 150 from autozone i believe ill check when im at work though. 240 s-13 or 14 is the best car for the money.

Really, it'd be great if you could check for me. Even $150 isnt bad at all compared to the $750 I was told.

Just FYI - JWT has an ECU program that allows you to run a Cobra MAF. &nbsp; You could not run an MAF from a different car without an ECU reprogram.

I dont think that the reason It didnt sell.

I believe the real reason was women and their damn SUV's taking over the road and trying to run over me in my poor little 240.

I think the s13 would've sold more if it had the CA and SR engines. &nbsp;I think nissan was playing a sick joke by swapping to the KA with only 140-150HP. &nbsp;I know its got some torque but hey, If I want to pull stuff with my car I would just buy a truck or something. &nbsp;Seriously, nissan has has all these engines that run 200 plus with less displacement and they're going to throw a 140HP engine in the USDM S13. &nbsp; It seems like companies don't like bringing over turbo engines to the states.

Another thing to watch out for is if the s13 ka ever overheats it will not only warp the head but cause cracks in the block ..
You would generally just the aluminum head would go and the cast iron block would be ok .. but aparently the block is not that strong either ..
my bud who is a big datsun fan pointed this out to me after i had my head rebuilt ..
luckily if the crack is not that bad 10 bucks block sealer kinda works but i wouldn't trust it forever.
the s13 i bought had only this engine problem .. the body/interior was perfect .. 500bucks for the car. and as i found out sr20 is the way to go ..

hope that is informative for ya's
