This may help those of you who are installing different size speakers than the stock 4x6" in the front. Note: I recommend using polycarbonate to make the plate, it will not mold like particle board and is less brittle than acrylic. Use the original mounting holes with 10mm bolts w/washers, they will thread in with a little help, or you can try to find longer screws. Also I recommend sealing the plates to the door with weather stripping adhesive so you don't get any moisture in from the outside. Also pre-drill the speaker mounting holes in the plate to prevent cracking. This template is not 100% accurate so you may have to make the original holes a little bigger to mount it on the door.

For 4-5 1/4" Speakers you will need to get 3/8" thick material to make the plate from, maybe thicker or thinner depending on how deep your speakers sit. For 6.5-6x9" Speakers you will need to get 1/2" Thick or 5/8" thick. I think the thickest that I've used was 1/2". I have not tried 5/8". The preprinted speaker holes are for Infinity Speakers, you may have to make your own holes for this as they may not be the same.

When you print this out make sure you print it border less because the PDF is 8.5x11 exactly so some printers resize the print a little. before doing anything you should put it up to the door and make sure the holes line up.

Good Luck.

The PDF is nice, that's a little easier than making your own template. But 1/2" for 6.5s? I think you'd have to buy that stuff at a specialty shop or online -- plus it would be pretty expensive.

I just used some quarter-inch-ish polycarb from HDepot with some pipe insulation tape on the back to reduce resonance/rattles and seal against the door better. My adapters aren't much for looks, but they sound decent and you never see them. :)

Here's a couple photos I had already hosted:

Thanks for the template
I've got some 6.5" cadence components that have been sitting here forever. It's going to be a tight fit since they are pretty deep

1/2" May be a little thick, but I'm pretty sure that's what we used on my friends car w/ Infinity 6.5". Easiest way to find out how thick you need is to roll down your window and stick the speaker in the hole and measure how far it needs to stick out in order not to hit the window. I have Infinity 5 1/4" in my car with 3/8" thick plate (got 2 pieces of 7.75x10.25x3/8" from Tap Plastics for ~$24), which was a little thick but for a purpose. I want to make a cover for back of the speaker so it doesn't get wet. You can use acrylic as well which is cheaper, but cracks easily so you will have to drill/cut/mount it very carefully or get MDF (particle board) and paint it. I will post pics or my door and I may make a 1/2" and 5/8" plate to try and see if it clears the door panel.
