My car is sitting in my driveway with the door halfway taken apart and i can't find which speaker wire should go into the speaker to bypass the crappy door amps in my s13. I see a white block that has 5 wires coming from it. I believe the colors are black blue green brown and red. Those wires lead into the CRAPPY amp and two wires lead from there into my speaker. I'm under the impression that i should just cut a couple of the wires and reroute them straight to my speaker. Has anyone does this ? Does anyone know exactly what wires lead to the speakers ? Am I doing this right ? ANY help would be appreciated.

You are on the right track...you should be able to just bypass the amp by cutting the wires and connecting them directly to the speaker.  As for the the correct wires??  cant really help you.  You can try guess and check...or mabye a multimeter would help.
Check my earlier post about drilling through the firewall...a guy named duderiffic should be able to help you further.

Well, I just messed up big time screwing around with it...I cut the blue and black wires and tried to put those to my speaker but that didn't work....actually, my speaker started to smoke so i'm thinking that's not a real good sign...Then, when i was trying to test if my speaker still worked I made a fatal mistake. I left I believe the blue cord dangling and that touched my speaker and made a spark. After that, my radio stopped working and my speedometer stopped working (I drive a 92 240sx SE digital speedometer) :-( ...The radio was just a fuse but I can't get my speedometer to come back on ! I'm so screwed....as you can see i'm not too good at this stuff...any ideas how to get my speedometer to come back on ? I'm really stressed out now and I've already decided to stop messing around with it until tomorrow...I'll probably break something else.

not too sure about the speedometer thing, but to bypass the door amp, if you have a deck with a built in amp, all you have to do is run some 10 or 12 guage wire from the speaker to the outputs on the deck, and just run it through the same place the stock wiring goes. Red should be power, Black should be ground, blue should be the remote turn on wire for the amp, and green and brown are the positive and negative wires for the speaker...... so i think.

Well, my speedometer magically fixed itself by the next day so i'm really happy about that. I messed around and found out exactly which wire goes straight from the head to the speaker. Just in case anyone else owns a s13 with the "premium" (SHITTY) active sound system and wants to bypass the amp....On both sides, the negative wire is brown and the positive is red. So just cut the wires and connect those into your speaker. I just did it today and what a difference. The stock amps suck and you MUST bypass them...trust me. Well, I hope this helps somebody out there in the future. I don't want anyone to go through what stress i've been through because of those #### speakers...but it all worked out well in the end.

Geez...you had me worried there for a sec about the digital cluster problem.   Thats why i suggested the use of a multimeter.  You could have prevented a lot of scary sparking and smoking.  BTW, what is so horrible about the s13 stock amps?   In the s14 they are great.  I still have mine hooked up to my 6 interior speakers...and a separate amp running my subs.  They sound great.

I couldn't really tell you exactly what is wrong with them. I heard they are only 5 or so watts when my aftermarket 45x4 is much stronger. I mean...if you have the stock speakers i'm sure they are better, but with an aftermarket deck you need to bypass it for sure.

Also, I was pretty worried about my speedometer not working as well. Such a relief when i turned my car on the next day and they were working. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> Well, everything is great now...thank god. Driving around a few days with now door panel was pretty ugly. haha

Make sure you don't just leave the extra wires hanging.. otherwise you will have all sorts of funky electrical problems from them comming into contact with the body.
