Last night coolerow and Mr. Migs let me drive their cars in the canyons. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> They are an s13 and s14, respectively.
Both cars were enjoyable to drive near the limit and the handling was predictable, but there were several big differences between the two (most likely because of the differing setups)
both cars had similar tires (you guys need some performance tires haha) and similar tire pressures... s13 has springs, and s14 has koni yellows (set to soft)
coolerow s13: Felt a bit more prone to understeering, but i felt very connected to the road. Also felt faster coming out of the turns.
mr migs s14a: Felt more prone to oversteering; rear end felt a little light and floaty (most likely due to the dampening setting) and due to the power steering, very responsive and easy to turn...downside being i hardly felt connected to the road (which is kind of scary) exit speeds and acceleration out of the turn wasnt as fast as s13
all in all, i liked the way both felt in the canyons. Is the behaviour of these two cars typical of s13 and s14? they have different suspension setups so im not sure if the results would have been the same if they were both in stock trim.
I definately liked the connected feeling of the s13, but the s14a had the fun factor of being able to throw the tail out a lot easier.
