KA24DE loud clanking sound when car is cold

Usually when my car sits for more than a day it idles rough when I start it. It goes away after a few minutes and it runs fine. But the last time it did this, there was a loud clanking sound to go with it. The sound went away after about 10 seconds and the car started to run like normal. Is it something related to the timing chain? I have a 98 s14 with a 96 head.

Hmm, maybe its taking long for the timing chain tensioner to build up oil pressure, so its slacking and slapping around for a bit. Maybe take it apart and inspect the tensioners.
