ive got an s13 with an sr20det using the cusco motor mounts, everything appears to be lined up ok except i need to move everything about half an inch back, the tranny and the driveshaft wont make full contact.

i switched the mounts around (changed left and right) because when i first had it in, it seemed crooked so now i did it like this but now it seems like i dont have enough room to have the tranny in all the way...

suggestions?

aaaagh... I can't concentrate on SR's when that ugly horse of a car is staring at me ;P

Did you actually put the motor in with the mounts how they were, or did you eyeball it and then switch? As I recall, the stock mounts are the same left and right, don't know about the Cuscos. Also, I assume you're using a manual driveshaft?

haha hey now, i like imports but i gotta remain true to my stangs :P

yeah i basically eyeballed, when i first had the mounts it just didnt look right, so i switched them and tried again, it looks right this time (keep in mind, last time it was off center quite a bit that the tranny wasnt even close to the drivetrain, but then again we didnt even try to align it) but the tranny and the drivetrain dont make contact 100% and the crossmember wont line up with the tranny, its about half an inch or so off.

yes its a manual driveshaft, from my KA

the DS yoke will have a little gap in it (about a half inch) if they are fully butted together the yoke will eat the seal as for the xmember try flipping it around...if these are not the right answers post some pics of the problem I am having troubles understanding what you are asking.

first off... the sr sits on a weird angle.. the rear is kind of angled down and to the left (if your in the car). and to the problem your having i had the same thing happen. there should be almost like a spacer plate kind of like a lock that fits between the driveshaft and the tranny. im just trying to remember what i did to get it to hook up....... but i cant seem to remember gahhh. and it may not make contact until you torque the bolts down.

Could you try using the stock tranny mount. And is that how that mount is supposed to installed? Maybe the stock one has a different position that puts the crossmember into position.

you cant flip the cross member, its slanted so it only goes one way

im using cusco motor mounts so using the stock mount wouldnt really be an option, unless its for makeshift time and i doubt it would fit

ps punxva what exhaust is that?

i have cusco motor mounts with peak performance street tranny mount, the install went slick like butter. perfect fitment. I THINK on the passenger side motormount or maybe both motor mounts has dowels on the top of the motormount plate to line up with the mount on the motor. i forgot what they exactly looked liked. check to make sure its lined up correctly on both sides.

you should be able to unbolt the trans mount from the x member and turn it 180 then your holes will line up I know it is possible because mine sits that way

soo wierd.. ive had a friend who did auto to manual swap and for some crazy reason, the freaking shifter was way forward of that hole, he had to trim the dashboard/center console to clear it lol.
