You have to CHECK the fuel lines just to be safe.

check the gasket that goes where fuel pump is. I had the same problem.

Check the fuel lines.

Most likely it's the o-ring sealing the fuel pump assembly.

Yes, the o-ring can be found at the dealer. Most dealers should stock it. We always have it. However, Id check the o-rings on your injectors to make sure its not leaking there also.

Or the hoses that lead to the fuel rail. Mine busted. Like a 2 min fix.

btw careful with the o-ring, its such a bitch and like to expand when u take it off and doesnt wanna go back into place like it should, my 240 style remedy for that, cut the ring the desired length and get some electrical tape and re-connect that bitch :D

I have the same problem i replaced the o-ring and it's still like that. lines are ok. dont know what else it could be. i think the tank may have a leak in it.

Time to replace your o-ring, as well as all the fuel lines.

Being as how the car is so old, the fuel lines are dried out.

Neglect it like someone I know, and the car will burn down.

ya my car smells also, mines a hatch. does anyone have this problem with a coupe? i remember some cars ive ben it when you open the gas tank it hisses. because of the preasure in the system. mine doesnt do that.

i say:
1. get a new gasget, if still smells
2. check lines
3. drop tank see if it has a hole.
0. and if my tanks f**ked then im gettin a fuel cell :)

i have a 1995 and it smells bad, i replaced all the rubber fuel hoses under the hood and it still smelt, it only does it while i am driving with the windows open, if there closed it will go away, i did figure out it was coming from the rear so i dropped the tank and replaced all the rubber hoses on rear, put everything back together and it still does it, i just said fuck and drive around with the a/c on

also check the line in your charcoal canister... if they is cracked under the car or anywhere its routed .. the fumes might be going into the car instead of it going to the canister.

Guys, Hatch or Coupe, koenigsegg or peterbuilt, it doesn't matter. Troubleshooting is the same process.
