What would the easiest way to get back behind the stock stereo to hook up my amp.  I don't know how to get the stereo out, I'm used to kenwood that just slides out with a couple tools.  Any help would be apreciated.

u should be able to pull out the little buttons by the defrost and hazard buttons, there are 2 screws behind them.  then you can pull out the whole top vent assembly too and disconnect harnesses.  Then pull out the change holder/ash trray and there should be one screw there. slowly pull the base of your shifter off, there should be 2 more screws there too. this will dismount your whole radio area.

or you could just unsnap to part around your radio and unscrew 4 screws to take it out...

How are you wiring an amp to the factory stereo??

youve got to pop out the button next to the rear defrost, then pop out the A/C unit so you can pop out the part around the head unit. then unscrew the 4 bracket screws and you should be set.

Thanks guys that should do it. &nbsp;Except that I &nbsp;heard from FA that there are no stock pre-amp outs on a stock s14 stereo. &nbsp;If this is the case am I going to have to buy a new stereo or is there some way to wire the amp in?

If you need a big listing of how to's....read my other post in tech talk...&quot;installing deck&quot; &nbsp; It explains pretty well how to get to everything. &nbsp;There were no amp outs on the stock stereo...you have to get an aftermarket to hook up another amp

Yea.. get out the cheese and scab onto the acc wire... then your amp will be on whenever your car is. &nbsp;Then you can get a Stinger SLOC to turn speaker level into pre-amp level. (Unless your amp has speaker level in, and a lot of new amps do) &nbsp;Now just sit-back and enjoy the turn-(on/off) pops and the engine whine!! &nbsp;I've done this many times, and I'll tell your straight up! GET A AFTERMARKET DECK. &nbsp;Sometimes you get lucky and there are no hangups. &nbsp;It's just a major pain in the ass trying to remove engine whine and pops from a OEM integrated aftermarket stereo!!

well.. i remember when i added an amp to my factory headunit.. i used the wires that went to the stock amps in the trunk.. so i never had to take out the head unit.. &nbsp;so if you can figure out the schematics on the amp.. it will all be so much easier for yah.. &nbsp;

Saga, when you wired it like that how did it sound? &nbsp;I'm thinking about going that route just for ease of install. &nbsp;

I guess i got lucky when i hooked mine up. &nbsp;(maybe its because i used 4guage wires) &nbsp; but no engine whine at all

It also has some to do with the quality of the products and install. &nbsp;It just can be a major bitch to try and get noise out of a system that is seemly hooked up properly. &nbsp;

Well, i dont tend to buy cheap shit. &nbsp; As for the install quality, i did it myself....
hmm...maybe i could enter that line of work...i've done like 6 peoples stereos with custom prefab and everything <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
