View Full Version : lowering car, thinking about some rubbing issues

Right now, without my car lowered, my tire is about 1/4 of a inch away from my strut. I just bought some kyb agx and ksport springs. With the negetive camber that comes with the drop, will it rub the strut? The strut should still be parallel with the rim, correct?

So, youre worried about it rubbing against the strut? I lowered my car a while back with JIC FLT-A2 coilovers and put 17" wheels with 225/45ZR/17 and mine come close to the strut, but dont rub. Im talking about maybe an 1/8 of an inch away, but it doesnt rub at all. Well, thats not true, there is one thing youll have to worry about depending on the amount youre lowering it.

I think mine lowered it about 2 inches, and there is the wheel well that has a tab coming down with spot welds on it. If I turn hard enough (Im talking like a 90 degree turn doing ~35+ mph, my tires hit it, its an easy fix if you can weld. Ill post up some pictures in a second of what Im talkin about.

I dont know if these will help or not, but here is a couple pictures of how low my car is and I dont have rubbing issues (except with the tab that I mentioned about, which I also have a picture of).

This is how low my car is...

And here is that pesky tab that I am talking about...

The new strut will only rub if its wider or has a smaller lower bracket.

but thats probably not the case, and since you'll be using the eccentric on the lower bracket to pull out the camber from lowering your wheels should technically get further away.

lol at letting that tab clown your tires, its called a hammer brodiddily.

LOL, Yeah I know. I think I might just cut the tab out and reweld it smooth though hahaha

My car is doing this exact same thing but only on the right side. Dampening is equal on both. Any updates? Did you shave off the tab yet?
