ok so i am trying to eliminate the CEL my car is getting by not having the rear 02 sensor on. is there a dp i can buy that has a bung welded on for 02 sensor? i havent been able to find one. i have the megan stainless dp, what would be involved/required to weld a bung on? where do i even get a bung, lol?

any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance guys!

Your local muffler shop should be able to weld one in for cheap.
I got mine done for $25...
(including cost of bung)

would it be simpler to replace my high flow cat with one that has a bung? will the 02 sensor reach the cat?

the bung shouldn't go ON the cat.. it should go before it... or is it after it?
I don't remember..

Either way.. its 12" from the turbo outlet.

EDIT: its between the first and 2nd cats. *assuming stock exhaust

my setup is megan dp, random technology 3 inch cat, and rsr gt2 exhaust.
i think i do recall seeing the option of with or without o2 bung on the cats..and test pipes do seem to have o2 bungs...im confused.

I've never seen cats with O2 bungs, but test pipes for sure have them.
Put the O2 bung after the cat.

The bung on testpipes is for the wideband sensor. You need to put the wideband further back away from the turbo since the wideband is more sensitive.

if you want to get rid of the CEL/MIL you have to put it after the cat so that the ECU will see that the cat is working.

^ + being some S14's had the cat right after the header collector, and a hollow one where a "real" cat would be, is why its in the "downpipe" section.

the megan test pipe i believe has a bung in it, or there is one that definitely has a bung.

if not, find the thread pitch, find a big nut or bung and just take the DP to a shop and have them cut a hole and weld it on. should be like $20 worht of parts and labor. i just lived with it since i eventually pulled my obd-2 stuff anyways. but you are in "PA or MD" so i dunno what kinda emissions testing you might need it for or not.

Wrong. ALL S14s have the cat right off the manifold.

The rear O2 needs to be placed after the cat to read properly, buy a nut, drill a hole, weld it in, and screw the sensor in. It's not rocket science.

Spoonfeed time yo. Front O2 sensor #6 below. Rear O2 sensor circled in red.

sup?

FYI, the catalytic converter is placed right next to the exhaust manifold to help the cat heat up more quickly and reduce emissions during cold starts.
