How do I know if my car jumped time?

Evrytime i go to start my car it starts but it doesn't. What I mean by this is that the engine starts running but shakes the whole car and then shuts off? It does this a couple times,then it will start. Any suggestions.

sounds like your not getting enough o2 in to the cylinders.
things to consider checking:
o2 sensor
throttle cable
maf

i cleaned my throttle body and sprayed shit in there and it wasnt getting enough o2 - did something very similar

did you try to give it some gas?

if you hear a bang and see smoke and stuff I'd say your timing is off...

the idle controling valve (icv) if that's what it's called... is anohter possibility.  it's easy to locate it.  have the hood open, stand right infront of it, find the radiator, right above it is the intake piping, than u'll see 2 tubes connected towards the left, the larger one is the valve that controlls the idle
