DUBCITY

I dont usually post threads like this, but i thought i was about time i got more active instead of just being a zilvia lerker.

I sold my old s13 in may and quickly picked up the gem you see below.

http://i7.tinypic.com/20uyjhg.jpg
http://i7.tinypic.com/20uzez8.jpg

I was rolling on the floor when i saw the car for the first time. All the DUBCITY stickers and big ass muffler. clear side markers, and "GTR POWER" emblem on the rear, damn this cars got it all! It even came with "Type R" seat belt pads. Anyways the price was right and i knew it would mainly be a track car with occasional street use so i picked it up.

i wanted to do this one "right". You know how when you have one car that you mod, youre always thinking of how you would do it if you could do it all over. My next move was to unload my bank account on parts. First thing I picked up was a Kouki SR swap. Then i filled my living room with other things.

http://i5.tinypic.com/20s96rq.jpg

Last weekend pulled KA and dropped SR, also installed my Tomei T-Trax and drove in 8 for 30min.

http://i5.tinypic.com/20s9ahc.jpg
http://i5.tinypic.com/20s9d1g.jpg

To my suprise, my wiring was ok and it fired up 1st try. Still having a problem with it running hot,, need to get a shroud.

http://i5.tinypic.com/20s9gef.jpg

This weekend i should have most of my suspension and z32 f/r brakes in. I know the pics arent much yet, but it should come together more once the stances are in and wheels are on.

NICE! but unless you're running dubs, why would you have those stickers?

Looks like that car will be badass... Keep up the work...BTW-if you DID semi-light dubs on that, you would have all my respect!!!lol

looks great man. are those stance coilovers? what specs on the wheels? thanks

DUBCITY
07-23-2006, 01:56 PM
haha, i know. I have no idea what the previous owner was doing. I was going to strip them off, but then people started calling my car "DUBCITY". The name kinda stuck. Also the reason why i changed my user name from "mr2turbo2" to "DUBCITY", no more mr2 and not too many ideas for user names.

420sx, thanks. yes they are stances. The wheels are the WORK XD9s, 17x9.5 +17 and 18x10 +18. I had originally ordered them for the s13 back in Feb, but just picked them up on Monday.

Man, you had me there for a minute. I was laughing as I clicked the thread, the first couple of pics had me going. Thought you were some newb that thought he was cool with the "DUB" crap. Then, the pics of your parts saved you. The install not only regained the respect that you lost, but earned you a :bigok: in my book.

Lookin' good "Dubweiser" ...keep us updated!!

looks like you're having fun with your project. i dunno how i would've reacted if i saw that car randomly one day without seeing this thread first, haha. maybe burst into a laugh attack or something.

DUBCITY
07-23-2006, 07:05 PM
haha. Can you guys beleive i drove that thing around for a month like in the first pic. It was pretty amusing, but at the same time embarassing when i pulled up at a light next to a cute girl. haha, whatever.

The exhaust is a copy of the Dart, its full SS got it from some guy in japan. Ive been hard at work on the car all weekend. Hopefully ill have time to post some more pics tonight.

Some birdy leaked info! I saw what it's going to look like. It's looking so nuts for your new build. I think steve said you're looking for aero too? Hit me up mang. If i can't get it local for a decent price, go ebay.

To my suprise, my wiring was ok and it fired up 1st try. Still having a problem with it running hot,, need to get a shroud.

With that big front mount,if the stock fan w/the shroud doesn't correct the overheating, I'd go w/the altima fans

DUBCITY
07-24-2006, 09:27 AM
are the altima fans superior to the clutch fan? ive thought about going that route since i can get altime fans+shroud for about the price of a SR shroud, but ive heard mixed reviews.

just give me one sec and I'll find the link....
http://home.satx.rr.com/nissanweb/RadTest/RadTest.htm
this write up is why I decided to go w/altima fans instead FAL or other expensive brands...It took very little modification to make it work and the fans have preformed wonderfully

on the track, my car is much cooler then pretty much most running e-fans.
all depends on shrouding.

stock clutch fan and shroud. plus other cooling goodies. cooling is the key to a full day of tracking the car. get your monies worth!

Test fitted the XD9s.

Installed 5-lug, Suspension, z32 brakes over the weekend.

http://i7.tinypic.com/20v0nxz.jpg
http://i7.tinypic.com/20v0pok.jpg

Bought another set of wheels (yes i will be living off ramen and hot dogs for the next month). I know im like the nth owner of these wheels, and i know my car looks exactly like the last guys, but i am a sucker for SP1s and these where the widths and offsets i wanted. I was going to go 18s, but when i saw these for sale i figured i might as well save some money running 17 inch tires and not have to wait another 4 months for wheels.

I actually like that "barely fit" look. I probably will go overfenders on the rear if (when) i smash one of the rears. Still a lot of things i need before aero. But i did roll and slightly pull all four fenders.

From what ive experienced, a whole 10 miles or so of driving on them, they feel very nice. Im running 9k/8k springs and they feel good. It is definatly stiff, and very low, but they meet or exceed my previous Silkroads. Ill know more once i get the car running better.

^ Thanks man. i was hesitant to put pics up with the SSRs because i knew it was just gona look exactly like yours. Dont want to be a biter or anything, but i know your new wheels will look even better and everyone will forget that you even had these (I hope).

Yeah the exhaust has a bad ass tone. Ive only had the car out three times and everytime there ends up being a cop right next to me, i just have to coast it along, but even at idle it sounds pretty mean. Oh and it backfires like a mother fucker, just hope i have some flames to back it up.

Finally got the XD9s mounting in time for the Oval (thanks to Logan for getting me the lost Work lugnut key). The car performed well, other than my overheating scares (had a s13 temp sensor because i guess the engine was in an s13 before i got it). Just got some goodies from SPL that i need to install as well.

clutch fan is not a good idea to remove if u wanna track it. it makes a huge cooling difference. you can just get altima fans, thermostat, and upgrade the radiator but clutch fan is a simple way to keep ur rad cool and it makes a much bigger difference than most ppl think.

there was a comparison on fresh alloy between clutch fan and flexalite fans a while ago i believe.
maybe you can find it, i dont happen to have it bookmarked tho
