View Full Version : I gave up..... Z32 Maf Question

I'm working on a 240 w/ an SR20 already put on by a previous owner. We're piecing together some pieces one by one so i figured i'd wire up the Z32 Maf while we wait for some parts.

I ran into a few snags which led me to search on various forums to no avail so I'm hoping some of you all can help me out. I have the Z32 maf w/ plug but when I try to wire up the stock harness to the Z32 plug it just doesn't make any sense.

THe stock harness has 3 wires going into the plug (brown, black, and white). THe Z32 maf has 4 wires basically. 2 blacks, 1 white, and one black/white w/ silver dot.

So i sat there scratching my head for a while and realized maybe this harness is completely different. I search the part # for the maf that was originally installed and it is a 240sx maf.

now my questions.....
is the 240sx maf the same as the SR20DET S13 maf and harness? I' am assuming the harness is a KA harness thats tapped in w/ the SR20DEt wiring.

any ideas?

Define '240SX MAF'. There's three different models.

S13 SOHC
S13 DOHC
S14

he said he is already running an SR from a previous owner. I am guessing it is an S13 SR. The S14 K's are different. if it is an S13 it is the same as mine. regardless he needs to read my write up. The extra wire hint hint hint is most likely the ground. Please read my write up and see if it helps. if it does, tell us in the write up.

It's a S13 Redtop.

I've read your DIY a few times and a few other DIYs... searched various forums but no concrete info on connecting the plugs.

I am using the Z32 OEM plug. In that plug there lies 2 black wires, 1 white, and 1 black/white.

The stock SR MAF plug has 3 wires, black, white, and brown.

no where am I seeing a red wire which I am going to assume as the 12v power. On other DIY's they used a purple wire. I am guessing you bought a Z32 MAF and purchased a seperate Z32Maf plug that is used for these conversions.

I am going to assume that black goes to black... other black goes to chasis ground. white to white... and brown to black/white?

The point is, your supposed to know what you stock wires are!
The only thing you would have to source is what the z32 colors or letters are.
A: not used B: +5v C: ground D: ground E: +12v F: not used

Waiting for an SAFC, PFC or return on an ECU? Must be, because your not driving well, without one of them!

yeah your car will drive like shit if you dont have a SAFC or PFC to adjust for the new MAFS....I can get those harnesses in my writeup for 2,000 Yen I think now...

there will be an unused wire. The z32 plug has two grounds. I have the wiring diagram at that link.

The wierd thing about my stock harness is that it has 2 plugs one plug for the maf and the other is the intake sensor.

the stock maf plug has 3 wires.... 2 black and 1 white. I see no red or orange for my 12v power wire to connect to the white/black wire w/ silver dot. I'm about 2 steps away from running my own 12v red wire from the alt to the Z32 maf.

12 volt should be a black wire with white stripe.
