View Full Version : how critical is offset for handling???

any help on this question would be great.  i have heard different numbers anything from 26 to 40 and i have had some people tell me it doesn;'t matter all that mucha and others tell me it really effects handling alot........thanks for the help

handling effects are minimal.......i have +32

anything from + 30 to +35 would be ideal.

Hrmm....So if the offset of the Rims was +48 mm, would that mess up my handling really bad or i wouldn't notice the different, and does anyone know the bolt pattern for the 98 240sx base model and SE model?

+48mm offest may be bad for handling because unless the wheels are super skinny, you'll probably have clearance problems with any size rims larger than stock (and what would be the point of staying stock or smaller).  Stock offset is +40 so you're going to want to stick with that number or most likely go lower (+35, +32, +22, etc) which will also give you a wider looking stance and better fill the wheel wells.
