Please help me out I have tried injector cleaner. Did nothing.

I have unplugged my maf and it just made it cut out at 2500.

Any other ideas or anything that would help fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

DO you know how to read ecu codes??

You should look into that, it can pin point a certain location that is malfunctioning. My car was Idling a bit wierd, i had a friend help me, It was the Vacuum lines behind the motor, next to the scv plug.

that really sounds like a vac leak, does it sputter on idle?

No worries man... There is a site on the net ( i've been trying to find it )

It helps you read ecu codes.

Hope your car gets well.

May be a MAF problem, clean your MAF for a quick and easy probable fix.

if that stuff doesnt work, do u have sound system in the car, i had a similar problem at 4.5k it just stopped like the gas would cut off, mine was due to electronic malfunction caused by my system-just a suggestion if u have a system

well thanks guys i'll be reading the codes tonight and seing wtf is going on and if i get nothing there i'll keep you updated

thanks everyone

i dont have a single speaker nor deck in my car so that couldnt be the problem

where is the speed sensor located and does that effect revving at a stop?

it does sputter at idle

also do u guys know what this means "To erase the memory, use mode IV. The codes are automatically erased from memory when the starter is operated fifty times after the trouble is last noticed." i dont understand that that is form the sohc ecu codes check

finally checked my timing it was at like 50 degrees advanced/maxed out i turned it back to 15 degrees advanced and now it kinda bogs below 3 k and pulls hard after 3k till 5k and still cuts out read the ecu codes its not throwing any codes any other suggestions?

i searched on here and i heard about pulling the 5th gear sensor? but would that be the case if it only revs to 5k in neutral and every gear?

thanks

YES...if you have a 5th gear switch that is stuck IN, it will make the ECU think you're always in 5th...and limit the RPM's to ~5000 (stock tachometers are innaccurate, so that's probably why it looks like ~4800rpm to you)..

Disconnect you're 5th gear switch, see if th eproblem goes away.

Thsi will take you 3 minutes to find the sensor, unlpug it, and test.

And 90% of the time, it IS the problem.

Oh, and to answer WHERE the 5th gear switch is located:

http://www.ka24development.com/cwilfert/electrical_trans_5ps_switch.jpg

Passenger side of the trans, right in front of the crossmember. Yours WILL NOT be that clean, and the plug will probably be covered in oil/dirt...but that's basically what you're looking for.

so if the problem goes away from unpluggin the 5th gear sensor and i leave it unplugged my car will be able to go above 115mph then right? and also can you just buy a new plug or sensor from the dealer to fix it?

thanks abunch guys

First of all how did your timing get set to 50 degrees adv.? Talk about major spark ping...Actually 50 degrees adv. static timing is not even possible...Maybe the engine does not rev because it can't breath or because it does not understand what the timing or fuel delivery should be.

A vacuum leak is only going to affect the idle the most, at higer rpm it is false air because the mafs can not read it.

Also have you hooked up another rpm gauge such as a DVOM with a tach or timing light with a tach to see if it is the tach that is at fault. When you say only revs to 4800rpm do you mean it bounces at that rpm or it slowly revs to that rpm and that is the higest it will go?

Summary:

Fuel filter
Fuel Pump
Other fuel issues
5th gear sensor shorted
Timing off
Restricted exhaust or intake
Faulty mafs

Sounds like you did not unplug the TPS (brown connector) to get the car into base timing. Did you unplug your TPS connector when you checked timing?

I still belive you can't go past 118 or 115 or 120 whatever the ecu feels ilke cutting you off at. even if 5th gear sensor is unplugged.
