Awhile back I ask for help with my drivetrain problem here.Anyway,I was going 70 mph on fifth and was going up a hill(mountain) so I was going to down shift to fourth but got second so now the rear bolts of my driveshaft is hitting the swaybar when downshifting or going on reverse.
After going underneath what I found is one of the 4 bolts that hold the diff to the subframe has a hairline crack in the side of the nut.Can it be welded that it would be o.k or do have to look for a new subframe.
I bought this car with some kind of lsd in it already and after looking at it, what they did'nt do is put 2 bolts underneath the diff so it would have a tendecy to go up and down hence the crack in the back.
With putting the bolts underneath the diff would it be safe to weld the crack at the back?

You defenantly need the 2 big bolts to hold the diff up. I supose you could have the sub welded, I would go to a junk yard and get another one, also Check the diff cover to see if it is cracked as well.
