I have a safc2 hooked up a s13 redtop and lately its been showing weird knock on the safc. Im not really concerned about it becasue i heard its not to trustable and its not high levels of knock.
When the car is cold the knock is at 0 no matter what. When it warms up it is usually good too. However, sometimes after it is warmed up, while idling it will show 2-4 knock but none under throttle. I can even just blip the throttle and it will go to 0 til the rpms go back down to around 900-1000.
Like i said, im not to concurned becasue im pretty sure that it is way under the damage level but just looking for an explaination as to why it does under idle and not full throttle?

lol dude dont worry. My timing chain rattle registers as knock.

I get a 40-60 back to 0 back up to 40-60 knock at idle.

But beyond that nothing is wrong. 63k mile engine in the car.

That knock sensor picks up more than just knock you have to realize that.

The more you upgrade your car. The louder things are going to get. And soon you'll have a completely inaccurate knock reading, and the car will start to pull timing. I'm on the verge of clipping the knock sensor form the ECU and just leaving it hooked up to the SAFC-2 just to see whats going on, especially at higher rpms.
