The timing chain guide is rattling like a mother $@@#!!!!!...

What do I do? Do I really really need to change it?  Does
it in fact "guide" the chain?  ITS made of f*&kin plastic!
How important can it be!  Can I just let it get eatin away?

Its WAY to much money to change, I cant be bothered!

What do I do!?

Thanks.

P.S.  Right Chain guide, SOHC KA24E '90 240SX

Thanks again!

lets see do you really need a guide? no

this way you can have your chain jump a few teeth and simulate some cam gears while it advances and more than likely retards ur timing

all sarcasm aside

yes you should replace the guides. nissan upgraded the guides and they are no longer plastic. also while your doing this there is wear on your chain showing its age

damn IT!  Cuz its really annoying.  600-800 bucks to pull
a lousy plastic guide.  Its crazy!

Many people told me not to worry for now.

I have a '90 SE with only 50,000 miles on it.  damn thing started rattling at 43,000 miles.  Hopefully it will let me go
for another 8,000.  I raelly dont have the cash or time right
now to waste on a Nissan "BOO-boo" so to speak.

Ah well.  worst case.  I wind up onthe side of the road at
3am because my timing chain skipped a few teeth!

THIS REALLY PISSES ME OFF!

AND ANOTHER QUESTION, how many people have had engine problems from leaving the guide rattle to long?

I mean, anybody with some estimates on mileage they put on the guide before they had it changed would also be apprecited!
