Well, I dunno if anyone has ever had this problem but, my car is getting the worst acceleration in the world with alot of jumpyness on the highway.  I also get that wonderful sulfurous egg smell.  So I didnt know that a bad cat could cause that big of a acceleration problem, but the cat is definately bad no matter what!

Anyway, I was gonna go with a Catco Catalytic Converter and a Apexi N-1 muffler.  Any thoughts on this?

Thanks!

i have the n1 dual with stock cat and no header or anything yet.. and im really happy with it.  its not annoying just cruising down the street..and i luv it when you go wide open at high rpm they are about 472 plus shipping give or take a little but i really like it and i like the dual tip look better than 1 big tip but everyone has their own ideas

i think the set up ur planning to get is really nice, the apex n1 dyno'ed with 15 hp increase to the wheels with just the cat back. i read in scc, that if u want u can upgrade the header along with the cat and n1 exhaust it'lll make the world of a diff. but the bad thing is , is that its gonna get really loud and ur gonna hav to get the n1 silencer, other than that a new cat and apex n1 exhaust is sounds real nice, www.nopionline.com has them goin for 461 + shipping i think. good luck man

Yea thanks!  Im just lookin to get a decent amount of power ... not lookin to drop a new engine, sweap the header or go bannanas for a new trani.  Just lookin for something that will add a little edge.

Apexi is really the best, but its definate money.  I was thinking catco converter with a flowmaster exhaust.

I think that will add a few horses.

A hiflo catalytic converter like Random Tech, N Tech or Bonez are options.  A canister type exhaust like Apex'i N1, HKS Hiper, Blitz Nur Spec will prob give you the best gain since there are less bends and restictions.

But mods like these are not going to give you any real edge or decent amount of power.  You're prob looking at 8-10 rwhp gain from these at the most.

Ah, random Tech. I hear they are real good.

I was also lookin at OBX mufflers any opinions?
Im just trying to find out witch are NOT good to buy.

I know Flowmaster, Apexi, Borla, Random Tech, etc. are good,
but which should I watch out for... and yes, i know, watch out for pacesetter! haa <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

ALSO, is it ok to just replace the muffler and the cat?
I dont wanna spend 600 dollars. &nbsp;IM BROKE right now! haha.

So, i mean. &nbsp;does it matter if i leave the I pipe there and
just have the muffler and cat replaced? Thanks again!

Honestly the piping is just as important as the muffler in an exhasut system..by changing just the muffler all you pretty much will be doing is making your car louder. &nbsp;

A muffler does what the name says....it muffles sound. &nbsp;Straight through muffler designs like HKS Hiper, Apex'i N1, and Tanabe Racing Medalliion pretty much flow the same....

But all of that is usless if you still have the crunch bent small inner diameter stock piping. &nbsp;Remember you get what you pay for.....and you will see even less gains in HP.

OBX sucks ass.

Right now by the questions you are asking I really hope that you don't expect a huge power gain by any means with these mods. &nbsp;Filter, and exhaust are the base for all further modifications but by themselves are not a huge power gainer.

You will get power, but why buy a universal tip and pay 200 when you can save a little and get the apexi. Dont regret just getting a muffler! You can look at the 5zigen fireball, it is not stainless coated all over like the apexi, but (supposedly) is the best for power increase, and they are not too loud either, same style as the n1 single.

has anyone ever heard anything about Toucan Industries Mufflers? &nbsp;I have a distributor who sells them pretty damn cheap and i was wondering what it would sound like. &nbsp; Here is all the info I could find on it... MT220..$150... http://audiovideoone.com/store/p001235.htm &nbsp;Since I work at a car dealership i can get it welded on for very cheap! &nbsp;I just need a confirmation from you guys about it's performance! &nbsp;I also need to know what cat to buy?

Well, im not looking to "regret" anything, in fact I dont think I would. &nbsp;I know Apexi is the best like I said, but the Apexi mufflers are over 150 bucks a piece. &nbsp;I was lookin for something in the range of 100 bucks. &nbsp; So, I know flowmaster makes a compatible one for my car. &nbsp;Flowmaster is ONE of the best in the industry. As far as sound, power and quality. &nbsp; So im really lookin for something all around good.

rotaryknight

Flowmaster isn't that bad at all. &nbsp; They make a few good straight through designs. &nbsp; The problem is if you only intend to change your muffler you will get a louder car that you think is fast but is just loud.

Save your money because if you just buy a muffler you will get nothing but sound. &nbsp;Just wait till you are able to buy a real exhuast system.

Since we are on the topic of upgrading the exhaust. &nbsp;Has anyone heard anything about the Tanabe Super Medalion Hyper Spec cat-back, such as sounds and performance gains.
