View Full Version : are flooded 300zx calipers still good?
well i used to live right outside of new oleans and my whole parish got flooded. my question is that there is a few 300zx's laying around that have been flooded and i was just wondering are the rotors and calipers on them still good to be used for a brake swap on my 240?
thanks

get em hot tanked to get rid of rust, and a caliper rebuild kit for the seals shouldnt be too much.

why not? those cars are pretty much gone anyway... either way theyll end up in a salvage yard or a auction yard..

The auction I buy from has already processed out over 7000 flood cars, I don't think people care much about saving anything right now.

If the caliper doesnt look like it was flooded, it can be core exchanged at a nissan dealer... hint hint...
Last time I tried ordering the piston seals they were cancelled, so not sure if they are still available...
cool. so you think a nissan dealership may have a rebuild kit b/c where i lived got around like 8-12 ft of water all over so they all have been under water.
Jason@performance - will they core exchange it for free?

no...
your basicly buying new calipers but save $80 for each front and $60 for each rear for turning in a core...
:-/
around how much are the new ones there?

Or buy them cheaper at any auto parts store.
And FYI, the front rebuild kits are still available, it's the rears that are NLA.

i would think that they would be fine. seeing as how they are sealed. the little pistons migh be a bit rusted but the inside is fine. and teh brakes are coated so they wont rust or oxidize rite?? jus my thought

A guy I know bought remanufactured z32 calipers from Autozone for $150 loaded. You may want to consider that if you don't want to rebuild calipers.
