I have a 96 240SX, it has the SX rims on it, and I just purchased SE alloy wheels.

I thought since they were the same car they would have the same lug pattern, well, apparently I learned the hard way, and now I know that a SX has 4 lugs and the SE has 5 lugs.

How much do lug conversions usually cost? One place quoted me $300, is that good ?

I wonder if it's worth it to do the conversion as well...

Just want someone else's opinion... I know that the stock SE wheels look ALOT better then the stock SX wheels.

what the hell are sx wheels? there was a model trim 240sx sx?

ok now to answer ur ? all u need are the hubs from a se model and can be easily done if you have tools and some basic knowledge.

i swapped 5 lugs on my s13.

there is also more info on this in the faq/archive's section on zilvia.

and 300 is a bit much is that just for work? or parts also? i paid 110 for my rear hubs and 160 for my whole front knuckle spindle and hubs.

u just need hubs so figure around 200 for parts and diy you save a 100 and learn about your car.

Theres 240SX and 240SE. The se comes with nicer wheels, and i believe a firmer suspension.

A 96SX has different wheels, then the 96 SE. My 96SX comes with 4 LUG - 15inch wheels. Take a look at them: (pretty ugly right?)

I bought these:

$300 is including all parts...Isn't there bolting required in this ? I checked out that POST in the FAQ section, I believe it lists parts, but it really doesn't give instructions.

Would I also have to change my brakes and rotors as well? Or can I just swamp in the 16 inch nissan factory wheels I purchased.

Right now I don't know what I should do, as I really would liek to put the SE wheels on and take the Sx wheels off, but don't want to spend like a thousand dollars doing it.

what you refer to as the 240 se is called a 240sx se, se being a trim package that also includes wheels and beefier swaybars

im going throught the same thing you're going through. I also have the base model and i ASSUMED that it was a 5-luger. The reason i want to do the 5-lug is for the 300Z brake upgrade. Im going to go to junk yards and see wut i could find. Its going to be a LONG, but FUUUNN summer!!!

ASSUME = It makes us a ASS out of U and ME (more like ME though!!!

I decided just to sell the wheels and go for 15"'s... Especially since the tires I have on my car now and practically brand new.

Shame tho, I really like the wheels on the SE.

So you will be seeing my wheels for-sale.

uhh i was being sarcastic and like it was already said its a 240sx se and 240sx le. what u said was incorrect my friends

if u can get the swap done for 300 labor, including all parts then by any means go ahead! thats a good deal just make sure the part are good.

yes you would need new rotors and thats it. wheels hubs rotors. what did u mean by "bolting"?

lol now u guys know im going through...

I think I am just goign to get rims that arwe 15" 4 lug, and get them brand new. Another thing I made me decide NOT to convert is that my car is dropped, and I am afraid of rubbing with the wheels. If I convert, and the wheels I have rub because they are too wide/big then I have to buy another set of rmis and tires... SOunds like too much of a hit to my treasury right now. But I am working on getting those ugly rims out of my car...
lol

thanx for the input and "constructive" opinion. lol laterz

Wait a sec before you kill this project. Both the se and base wheels should be the exact same size just different design. As for as hubs goes 300 for parts and labor is good. You don't need to buy new rotors as you can have a shop redrill them for 5 lug.

You could even do it yourself. All you have to do is get a HUGE breaker bar and undo the hub bolt. Remeber your going to have to buy 4 studs since you only have 4 lug.

It's easy. Don't quit just because it seems hard. Trust me the wheel choices for 5 lug are so much better than 4.

Hope u read this before you quit.
Good luck
