Question So I MIGHT get a Z31

Hey guys I might be trading my Honda HB For a Turbo Z31 and kinda wanted some more info on them. I dont know much about the car, the motor, the tranny, or really anything about the car at all.

I know its a 84 Turbo Z31 5 speed T Top.
How stong are the motors?
What do I look for in the car before I trade?
How easy are they to work on?
How easy is it to get parts?
Are they even a viable platform to build?
Are there any sites that are kept up for the car?

And just whatever else yall think I might want to know. Thanks guys ahead of time.

The main reason I want a Z31 is cus I want to make big reliable power for not alot of money and I here the VG is the motor that can do it. I really dont know much about the car and that scares the crap out of me.

Everything is cut to fit, not bolt on. But it works well enough so far. Under 450 on stock bottom is cheap and reliable. I bought all my turbo and fuel shit second hand (waiting to put it all in though) so about $1200 for almost 400hp.

More info here..

Its called a 240sx. Had an m30 for a few years (rear suspenion is very similar to a z31 300zx). Spent a bunch on trying to get the stock rear end right before i sold it. Couple guys were swapping 240sx rear ends into them. Not a bolt in adventure, but im sure you can put one in the rear of a z31 just the same. Biggest probelm is when you go low the camber is excessive and there is no adjustment factory. Even the aftermarket camber kits only correct about 1.5 degrees. When you are dealing with 4-5 degreees of camber, 1.5 of correction just doesn't cut it.

1. Bottom end can hold 400rwhp all day
2. What to look for when buying a 300ZX
3. If you can turn a wrench you can work on the car. Its not a space shuttle, its 80s technology
4. There is no aftermarket support. Everything is engineered to fit
5. Depends how resourceful and how good you are at fabricating. Welding is almost a must
6. Good info at az-zbum.com

I am running the stock semi trailing arm -2.5*, sitting 2 3/8" off the ground. Just as simple as re-drilling a hole (i opted for adjustable but same principle)
