No big problems I recall; I was most miffed about changing track directions half way. As I am a beginniner I would have preferred to stick with one way so I could get as much time as possible; the first direction I was only beginning to learn and then i had to go back from scratch.

That S2000 and the wingless white EVO were kinda punks, passing during corners and shit. I drove poorly, but even worse with someone on my ass closely...

The event was great, lots of seat time. The best part was it was full course, so there was plenty of breathing room for all of the cars (and yet there were those aggressive guys who weren't patient enough to pass safely). The only big downside was the hot weather.

Hope everybody who went had fun. It was nice meeting Jon(OptionZero), Chris(TurDz) and Peter, hope to see you guys at the next event.

hey man, those hachis are light as crap, most of 'em are stripped

Besides, I took horrible lines throughout the day...

At buttonwillow, late apex rules the day, and i sucked at it

Things I learned:
1. Forget coilovers, or wheels, or an engine, or anything else.
I NEED A SEAT. Most turns I was practically sitting in the passenger seat; when I had a passenger, I had my head on his shoulder. Even normally, my head is tilted to the side just to keep from smacking the roof.

Stock S14 seat height + helmet + sunroof = soooooooore neck

2. Weight transfer owns. You read about it, you play gran turismo, you ride in cars...but damned if it isn't important to DO it.

3. Get rides. Going the first direction (clockwise? i forget), i rode with Rich, made driving 100x easier. Going the other way, didn't get to ride or work the track (flagging even), learning curve shoots up

4. Apex. Learn 'em. Do 'em.

5. Trying to drift w/ fresh new tires? Hard! (haha, rich...it was fun!)

sucks because i'll be starting to work THIS WEEK full time, so i'll have a little more money left to pay for more events....but less time to go to them. Shit man, life ain't fair.

Barry,

I did a little research on Club4AG using your SN and the terms "20V Power" and I saw a thread that you were making 130whp!! niiice...and also, I hearrd you got robbed, sorry about that.

thanks for the driving tips in the bathroom, haha.

Jon,

We should keep learning the lines of BW (with the guide) and also, start reading other guides plus more in car videos. Did you want to see some other in car videos of the full track of BW? I haven't looked at them yet but it will be good to analyze the differences with our driving while it's still fresh in our mind.

Chris & Jon: Sounds like you guys had a blast out there. I want to be out there soooo bad!!! I'll be back at the end of August so we gotta go to some track events before school starts. I hope you guys can make it out to the Speed Ventures event at the end of September. It should be lots of fun since it's a 3 day event at Buttonwillow. Erik said that Speed Ventures have pretty good events.

Erik: When's the next Buttonwillow event!?!?!?! Did you see the 95 Spec R on craigslist. It's soooo tempting. Man, I really wish I'm back in the states!!!

The one for like 1700 bucks? Yeh I was trying to buy it for you, no joke. No response from the seller though. assholes.

I need to look into the SV events that month. I need new tires by then I think.

Or were you thinking about that other one for 7800 bucks? Sorta a high price imo, you get stuck with the spec suspension. I think all my stuff cost 5600 total. 2k for spec suspension isn't worth it, and you are stuck with a VLSD instead of the torsen that car SHOULD have come with it was actually an R package. So unless he sold parts from the R, he just pieced it together.

Yeah, I actually printed out those guides and reviewed them after every session. It makes more and more sense the more you get comfortable to the track. Too bad they cover the Star Mazda turn rather than the sweeper.

With the sweeper, in the CCW direciton , I remember touching the last of the Esses outside right berm, then turned into that triagular berm which leads ot the sweeper. From there, I took the sweeper with a late apex, similar to the the line of Turn 2 @ Thunderhill. Dunno if that was correct, but I had good exit speed with that.

In the other direciton, I did something different. I stayed around the middle for most of the sweeper, then I experimented and started going a bit more outside near the end of the sweeper so I could prepare to enter the esses with a better speed. Dunno if that's right either, but it seemed fastest to me.

TurDz,
hhahahah, catching me off guard asking me questions while in the restroom... LOL...

hey...next time you guys should ask me to follow behind. you guys can try to take the same line as me. When the S2000 caught up to me, i began to follow his racing lines to see how off mine were...OH MAN...if i had MORE grip and more power i coulda stuck with that S2000 noooo problem. The lines he was taking i couldn't take(at high speeds), the azenis were overheated by the time he caught up to me.

There was one for $1700?!?!? Hmm....was that a while ago? I sort of remember one that was that good of a deal. Well, I changed my flight and I'll be back the 24th so yeah, the search begins. Still looking for an used rollbar. There was one seller that was actually in Milpitas!! I think it was for $250, the double loop Hard Dog one.
