I had my cams out for a while, and now that I'm putting them back in, I realize I have them mixed up!  In appearance, they both look the same.  How do I tell which is for the intake and which for the exhaust?

This is a wild guess, could be wrong, but. . .

Couldn't you just put them in and see what lines up where?

Im pretty sure the one with a blue mark is intake and the one with an orange mark is exhaust. Unlike Hondas i didnt see an EX or IN on the cams when i took my valve cover off.

Out of curiosity, why remove the chain guide?

It (among other things) can get worn down, and break off under there. *It also causes some rattling under the chain cover. *There is a lower cahin guide (on the Upper chain) that causes this also, and can be removed. *But its harder to get too.

are there any ill effects of removing the chain guide? Just wondering if it would be more likely to hop off the teeth or something, seeing as how it is the &quot;chain guide&quot;. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

I don't see any problems with removing the upper guide. &nbsp; There really isn't much reason for it to be there. &nbsp; However, the side one is questionable because it may keep the chain from sloshing around inside the upper cover.
