Yes, you are supposed to use the KA speed sensor on the SR tranny or your speedometer won't read correctly.

Is the KAE sensor interchangeable with a KADE sensor except for the plugs?

ok, why are people in other posts saying the sensors are same and that everything lines up, that is false? I ask because I have an sr with sr sensor in it and dont want to change it out, but I get conflicting answers whether it will work or not.,

Same here, as far as getting mixed answers. I have a 90 with a SOHC 5 speed that is going out on me, so i bought a 5 speed of a DOHC ( dont know year ) anyhow it came without a speed sonsor, and basically want to know if is interchangeable beside plugs.

5-spd S13 KA sensor will work with an SR tranny
5-spd S14 KA sensor will work with an SR tranny.

You cannot use an S13 sensor in an S14, it will fit but the speedo will not work. So what Im saying is if you have an S14 then you need an S14 KA sensor, if you have an S13 then you need an S13 KA sensor. Does this clear things up?

Auto KA sensor will NOT work inside an SR tranny.
