5 speed swap wiring.

hi, i have a 1989 fb and i am putting a 91 tranny on it. everyone is bolted up fine, and im finishing up. I jumped those 2 wires at the bottom on my fuse box, but I am a little confused about where to hook up my speed sensor.

And after i hook up my speed sensor, can I just get rid of the other 2 plugs going from the fuse box to the tranny?

I think there are 3 connectors,
1 7 prong (holds 8)
1 7 prong (holds 8)
1 3 prong

I am sure one of these probably controls the speed sensor, and another or if not hte same plug, diffrent wire controls the reverse light.

any info would be great, i dunno how much it differs from the DOHC, but i havent found much for the SOHC.

thanks

woah woah woah.... don't get rid of anything

one is speed sensor, 5th gear sensor, and the other is reverse light.
speed sensor is the plug closest to the gearbox. the others, i'm not too sure about their placement.

im not pulling any sensors from the tranny. I just unplugged the auto ones, and have 2-3 lower harnesses / wire bundles that go to the old sensors.

I looped the "Parking" wires, but i still have 3 more existing harnesses/plugs coming off the old auto tranny that i dont know what to do with, i assume most of them are just BS that can get thrown out, but i need to figure out what one is speed sensor, and what one is reverse lamps. I dont have a SOHC FSM for a wiing diagram, just a DOHC, and i assume wiring is a little diffrent.

Speed sensor has it's own 2pin harness. Keep it.

Reverse is in one of the larger plugs, quit being lazy and look it up in the FSM. IIRC it's red.

5th position switch is not needed, period. Neither is neutral position.

And there is no 'clutch cancel switch' on an auto car.

peep this out
and this but double check FSM for exact wires 'cuz this was done on an s14

http://ka24development.com/cwilfert/...lectrical.html

the only things you need from the auto harness are speed sensor plug, and reverse light sensor. everything else needs new wires run. unless you buy a manual tranny harness
