sr ecu

ok i have a delimma. I had a 240 with an sr in it. unfortunatly I wrecked it. well, the wheel through the fire wall and hit the ECU and pinched the wiring. the car was totalled. anyway I took everything out and swapped it to a different 240. when I tired to start it it did not work. I went through everything fuel pump not working, no power to ECU. before putting the harness in the new car i checked where the fire wall had hit it and every wire looked ok and unfrayed, unkinked etc. I opened the top of the ecu and just looked over the the board inside no cracks no bent pieces etc. It looked like the ECU case had only sustained damage. also after the car was wrecked it did run. I installed the ECU into another 240 with a red top and the car did not work with my ECU. So i deemed the ECU to be junk. I am in the process of getting a new ECU. however I need some help deciding a few things. Did the ECU just decide to crap out at the last minute due to it being very sensitive? are there pinched wires in the engine harness I did not see? or is the harness to the actual car messed up-I got the newer car for 50 bucks with what the owner said was a blown motor? I also have an HKS EIDS that a wire came out on-it was for the throttle position sensor-did the wire ground out and fry the ecu? well the second question is easy to answer -take the motor harness out again and check it over very carefully-which I will do. But what do you guys think about the other three questions? I would hate to have just spend 275 dollars and fry this ecu too. I would like to track the problem down and fix it.

to answer one of your questions about the ecu, when you wrecked your car the force of the impact screwed it up, oh yeah when you get another ecu just check all your wiring before connecting the battery...

my only question is why did it still run after the crash? I had to drive it for about the equvilent of a half block. then later that night I backed it on to a trailer. obviously the impact was not good for it byt any means but any clue as to why it started that night and not now? that is the part that leaves me clueless
